Analysis

There wasn't much pace on here which resulted in SADLER'S RISK getting a bit fresh and charging forward. Luckily for him, a couple of others soon went on and Richard Johnson was able to get a nice lead. He met the first few hurdles slightly awkwardly, with a tendency to corkscrew a bit, but his jumping improved as the race progressed and it was soon clear that he wasa class above his rivals. Merely shaken up to storm clear off the home turn, his rivals had no answer as he powered away round the bypassed last hurdle. He was classy on the flat, and probably won't mind a bit of hurly-burly, so quotes for the Triumph are not ridiculous; he'll certainly stay up the hill well. Black Dragon was prominent throughout and still travelled quite kindly turning in. He was left behind by the winner but still ran a fine race under his penalty; he could be aimed at something like the Fred Winter although he'll need to move up the handicap quite a bit. In the end he was collared for second by Otto The Great who made a pleasing UK debut. The French recruit's French form had looked a bit regressive but he jumped well in the main, espeically after being a tad hampered at the fifth, and he was doing his best work late on. Fences and three miles will suit in time, but connections should be happy with this effort. Sonoran Sands came next; his jumping was novicey but he should have learnt something here and will appreciate a lead next time. The favourite's chance was made considerably easier it should be said with the performance of Dubawi Dancer. She'd looked quite good at Doncaster (form working out well) but ran a lifeless race here, jumping like a crab and coming under pressure a long way out as she seemed to struggle to lay up with the pace at halfway.
