A bumper with a rich history having been won by the likes of Back In Front, Cork All Star, Rhinestone Cowboy, Ghizao and Rock On Ruby amongst others. This looked a good renewal on paper but it seems doubtful that ONE TERM will go on to achieve the same heights as some of his predecessors. The Beneficial gelding had been beaten on his first two starts in this sphere before winning easily at Chepstow and is clearly progressing. It was no surprise to learn that connections will sent him straight over hurdles and he's reported to have pleased in his schooling; he's from a good family being out of an unraced half-sister to One Man and they will be delighted if he turns out to be half as good. Jimbill had won an Irish point on his sole start (the runner-up showed ability on his Rules bow for Alan King) before winning at Newton Abbot at cramped odds. He was hard to assess on that evidence but is clearly a useful prospect and this fourth foal of a winning hurdler should be able to make his mark over obstacles. There was plenty of confidence behind Montbazon who brought the best form into the race but he was never quite getting there. He has a stamina laden penalty and connections will remain hopeful that he can develop into a leading novice hurdler. They finished clear of Josh's Dreamway whose small yard is enjoying a terrific run of form - there are a couple of Pattern bumpers for mares in the spring and she would have to be considered a live threat if connections opt to keep her back for those contests. Supreme Carolina fared best of the three Irish raiders but raced a shade keenly as did Mumbo Jumbo and Salubrious who was having his first run for a yard that had won the last two renewals of this contest.
