Analysis
Division one of what is often a fair maiden saw a pleasing debut from Authorized filly COLIMA who was reportedly a weak filly who hadn't come into training until June. She had, however, been pleasing connections at home and translated that to the track, travelling well and stretching clear in the manner of a useful performer. Connections are keen to see how she gets on in an Oaks Trial next season and this half-sister to useful pair Eradicate and Huff And Puff certainly looks capable of making her mark in a Pattern race. She was followed home by Key Appointment who had finished clear of the field when third in a heavy ground Haydock maiden. He ran his race and was just beaten by a better horse on the day but connections should have little trouble finding him a suitable opportunity to open his account. Croftamie was a cheap purchase from the family of stalwart miler Cesare and outran her odds on debut despite showing signs of inexperience; this was an encouraging start to her career. Aquila and Energize represent top Newmarket yards and both showed some promise for the future without being unduly knocked about; the latter, a Derby entry, was nibbled at in the market and is out of a half-sister to the top-class Six Perfections. There was good support for Sunpass but he struggled to get into the race after missing the break and was notably green throughout. He can leave this form behind as, too, can Attwaal who looked fairly clueless on his racecourse bow. Curly Come Home travelled sweetly in the straight before struggling in the final quarter of a mile; she appeals as the type to make her mark in handicaps next season and she'll be qualified for a rating after one more start. Grey Mirage was well-backed on debut and was again to the fore of the market; he ran well up to a point but didn't find as much as had looked likely when asked to quicken - he's clearly well thought of at home but may need more time. Homeric made up some ground from the rear and is another who should fare better with this experience under his belt.
