Analysis

Not really a true test of DARE ME's mettle but still another step in the right direction. With little early pace jockey Richard Johnson was forced to send his horse forward and he spearheaded a field of horses dawdling along like a post office queue. In the main he jumped well, although he was a bit novicey at the 2nd last flight in the back straight, getting in too close but fiddling it smartly. His flat speed had taken him nicely clear from half-way and he was able to maintain this advantage without being asked any sort of question, never mind a tough one. Four horses broke clear on the turn for home with Sorcillera, Silver Roque and All Svelta trying to keep tabs on Dare Me. They were unable to; the jolly jumped the last six clear and won on the bridle. Alla Svelta ran on determinedly to claim second spot which was a decent effort considering he mullered the flight before the turn for home, and he just fended off Sorcillera into third. That was a promising run from the four-year-old but it must be said that she was in a prominent position throughout which was the place to be given the slow pace. Forty Knights shaped with promise further back in fourth under a considerate ride, with Silver Roque just getting tired in fifth. The winner will now head up in grade and connections hope that he will be able to get a lead off other horses wherever he heads.
