The 13/2 shot was always travelling sweetly under jockey Ryan Moore and he powered to a length and a quarter victory over the nine-year-old Kingsgate Native, who was finishing runner-up in this race for the second successive year.

The race looked wide open at the furlong pole, with several in with a shout but Stevens' three-year-old stayed on strongly to master the long time leader Stepper Point and Kingsgate Native, with Henry Candy's Dinkum Diamond running on late to snatch third.

"He's won twice and finished second once in the space of a fortnight," said Stevens.

"I thought this was a tough ask but he seems to be getting better with racing. I won't make any rash decisions and he needs quick ground, but we were thinking of Goodwood next (King George Stakes)."

The 4/1 favourite Steps missed the start completely and then found trouble in running before finishing unplaced.
