Safety Check and My Catch helped set a strong early pace which suited Mickael Barzalona's mount who settled nicely in fifth.

His jockey sent the Australian import to the front turning for home and the pair sprinted clear, taking the final furlong in splendid isolation.

Second home was Saeed Bin Suroor's Emirates Flyer (10/1) with Mike De Kock's Wednaan back in third (7/2).

Winning trainer Charlie Appleby said: "They (former trainer Peter Snowden) told us he wasn't a work horse and they were right!

"He certainly works better in the evenings than the morning but we were delighted with his preparation and his condition and fitness.

"I can't see a reason why we won't head to the UAE Derby next and I don't think the 10 furlongs will be a problem."
