The Nick Williams-trained juvenile took up the running shortly after the tapes rose and the 9/1 shot benefitted from a fine front-running ride by Sam Twiston-Davies, battling on strongly when challenged by Aurore d'Estruval shortly after the final flight.
It looked like the 6/4 favourite was the likely winner between the final two flights as she was hard on the steel but she found less than expected for jockey Brian Hughes, eventually going down by half a length.
"It was tough out there but he's jumped brilliantly," said Twiston-Davies.
"He got into a good rhythm early on in front which relaxed him and he finished the race off well. It's good for the horse's confidence as he's been highly-tried so far but the more Nick's (Williams) juveniles do, the better they do.
"He's put his experience to good use."
"That was a nice performance," trainer Nick Williams told Racing UK.
"He's got fantastic stride and soft ground suits him very well. I haven't discussed where he goes next with his owners but I think he's very much a horse for the future.
"He's a three-mile chasing type in the making and may already have done enough as a juvenile - we'll see."
