Fresh from saddling a Breeders' Cup winner, Charlie Appleby struck back at home as Majeyda took the Montrose Stakes.

Wisely kept out of the worst of the wind by Silvestre de Sousa in the early stages, the 7/2 favourite always travelled well behind the early pace and accelerated clear when asked to go and win the race.
At the line, she had two and a half lengths in hand of 12/1 chance Adhwaa, with early pacesetter Island Remede (13/2) keeping on to finish a clear third.
"She was always travelling well and when I asked her to go, she went in two or three strides," said De Sousa. "Next year she'll be stronger than this year and a winter on her back will do her good."
The race was delayed for 25 minutes to allow for Ted Durcan to go to hospital after receiving a leg injury earlier in proceedings.
