Richard Fahey's Sandiva maintained her unbeaten record with a smooth display in the Coolmore Stud EBF Fillies' Sprint Stakes at Naas.

After having appeared green on her debut at Nottingham, despite winning by six lengths, the daughter of Footstepsinthesand looked much more the finished article this time.

She broke smartly under Pat Smullen and travelled best of all through the race before eventually pulling clear along with Heart Focus.

It maybe took longer than first looked likely to put the race to bed, but she eventually ran out a convincing two-length winner as the 7-4 favourite.

The winner of this Listed contest 12 months ago, Sky Lantern, won the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket last month.

Fahey said: "She's always worked very well at home and it's just nice to see her go and do it on the track.

"She was green on her debut but I often find the better ones usually are as they do everything so easily at home if that makes sense.

"I'll speak to the lads (Middleham Park Racing, owners) but the Albany (Royal Ascot) would look the next logical race. She's got a huge stride for a filly and she's certainly one of our better fillies at home."
