Ismail Mohammed's four-year-old was sent off the 8/1 joint-favourite and he justified that support thanks to a late challenge under Liam Jones.

Cathy Gannon looked to have made a race-winning move a furlong from home when she kicked Boots And Spurs (20/1) clear but he was just overhauled late on, with Haaf A Sixpence (12/1) running on well for third and Patriotic (11/1) fourth.

The winning trainer wasn't at the track due to duties in Dubai, but the victorious rider Jones said: "He just took his time to pick up and the further he went the better he was.

"I always knew I was going to get there. He travelled well, but was just caught a bit flat-footed when they quickened. I wound him up and he kept on going to the line.

"He's come on a lot for the winter and I've been in to get him ready for the Lincoln, but he didn't get in there so we had to go for this."
