Waterway Run got the better of Light Up My Life in a battle for the Sakhee Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Ralph Beckett's filly won a York nursery last time but stepped up on that effort by landing this Group 3 contest by half a length.

Annie's Fortune was another three lengths back in third, with Power Of Light fourth.

Sky Bet go 33/1 about the daughter of Arch for next year's 1,000 Guineas.

Beckett said: "She'll go to the Breeders' Cup next for Juvenile Fillies' Turf. She was nominated as a foal so it makes sense."

"I was very pleased. She's a tough filly and the ground is probably on the slow side for her. She was just pitching a little bit I felt early on and genuinely fast ground is what she requires.

"She's a tough girl and the travelling won't bother her. Being a syndicate filly it will be a lot of fun for them."

Winning Jim Crowley said: "She's not that big, but she's got a great attitude.

"She was quite impressive at York when she won and she's done it well today.

"We've gone a nice gallop and when I kicked her into the dip she found plenty.

"Yesterday there was a tailwind behind us, but today it is a crosswind. It's beautiful ground, though."
