There was cut in the ground when AKTABANTAY finished second in the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. He was a couple of lengths clear of third-placed Cock Of The North and makes most appeal. Future Empire and Elm Park were both impressive maiden winners and deserve to take their chance in this company but Pallister did not appear to last home over 7f having taken up the running early in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood last time. Lexington Times looks to have plenty to find at this level.
Elm Park 9-4fav (9-5) Always prominent, led travelling well 2f out, pushed clear inside final furlong, stayed on strongly, won at Newbury 7f 2yo mdn (4) sft beating Constable Buckley (9-5) by 3l, 13 ran.
Aktabantay 7-1 (9-1) Tracked leaders, slightly outpaced and lost place 3f out, headway over 1f out, chased winner when edged left approaching final furlong, ridden and kept on one pace, 2nd of 8, 4 1/2l behind Estidhkaar (9-1) at Newmarket 7f 2yo Grp 2 (1) gs in Jul.
Future Empire 7-2 (9-5) Tracked leaders, every chance 2f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, ran on, won at Newmarket 7f 2yo mdn (4) gf in Jul beating Invincible Gold (9-5) by 2 1/2l, 12 ran.
Lexington Times (IRE) 2-1 (9-5) Chased leaders, hung right from halfway, kept on same pace final furlong, 3rd of 5, 5l behind Dark Reckoning (9-0) at Ripon 6f 2yo stk (3) gd.
Cock Of The North 9-1 (9-1) Prominent, ridden over 2f out, one pace final furlong, 3rd of 8, 7l behind Estidhkaar (9-1) at Newmarket 7f 2yo Grp 2 (1) gs in Jul.
Pallister 10-1 (9-1) Led, ridden and headed approaching final furlong, no extra, 5th of 8, 5l behind Highland Reel (9-1) at Goodwood 7f 2yo Grp 2 (1) gf in Jul.
