This is one of the few races of its kind that Serena Brotherton hasn't won in recent years and her mount George Baker has to be in with a shout though it's almost two years since he last won. LADY CROSSMAR is the form pick on her victory over 7f at Epsom a month ago and she was staying on strongly over that trip at Kempton two weeks later. She's never raced on ground with some give so her ability to act has to be taken on trust but she's handed the vote to give Megan Nicholls another winner. Beep is still a maiden after ten starts but she ran her best race to date when facing soft ground for the first time at Newbury and looks a major threat. Orthodox Lad is a decent enough hurdler but how he'll cope with this trip is another matter.
Orthodox Lad 11-1 (9-7) Raced keely in touch, effort well over 2f out, soon lost place, 7th of 10, 12l behind My Mate Jake (9-4) at Doncaster 1m 2f hcp 0-75 (5) sft in Oct '12.
Pendo 20-1 (9-2) Held up in rear, headway over 1f out, stayed on same pace final furlong, 4th of 12, 9l behind Fruit Pastille (9-3) at Lingfield 1m mdn hcp 0-65 (6) pol in Jul.
Lady Crossmar (IRE) 6-1 (9-1) Mid-division, ridden over 1f out, stayed on final 100 yards, never nearer, 5th of 13, 2l behind Galatian (9-4) at Kempton 7f hcp 0-75 (5) pol.
Takitwo 9-2 (10-8) Raced wide in touch, lost place halfway, eased over 1f out, last of 9, well behind Perfect Mission (10-12) at Salisbury 7f am hcp 0-65 (6) gf in Jun.
Beep 6-1 (8-12) Chased leader until 6f out, chased leaders, went 3rd over 2f out, soon ridden, outpaced over 1f out, kept on towards finish, always held, 3rd of 6, 1 1/2l behind Wordismybond (9-7) at Newbury 1m 1f app hcp 0-70 (5) sft.
