King Of The Wolds should make a bold bid for a hat-trick having been left clear at the last fence at Fakenham on his latest start. But MAJALA makes more appeal as he finished a creditable second in a more competitive race at Chepstow to Sire De Grugy on his comeback. Tom George's charge can land this if running up to a similar level and has the beating of His Excellency on collateral form. Wilde Pastures has looked in the handicapper's grip since recording at hat-trick early in the year and this is much tougher than the race at Sedgefield Un Guet Apens won yesterday.
Un Guet Apens (FR) 4-1 (11-8) Chased leaders, jumped slowly throughout, lost place after 3rd, headway to go 3rd after 2 out, ran on, never reached leaders, 3rd of 6, 4 1/2l behind Granville Island (11-7) at Haydock 2m hcp chs 0-135 (3) sft.
Pepite Rose (FR) 5-1 (11-5) Held up, headway on outside approaching 11th, chased leaders, 3 out, weakened next, 4th of 9, 17l behind Gentleman Anshan (10-0) at Stratford 2m 4f hcp chs 0-150 (2) gs in May.
King Of The Wolds (IRE) 5-4 (10-11) Made all, 2 lengths clear 2 out, driven between last 2, hard pressed when mistake and left clear last, won at Fakenham 2m 5f (3) gs in Nov beating Flichity (10-0) by well, 5 ran.
Wilde Pastures (IRE) 9-1 (11-8) Led to 4th, blundered 4 out, weakened before 2 out, last of 6, 27l behind Swift Arrow (11-4) at Kelso 2m 1f hcp chs 0-140 (3) gs in Nov.
Majala (FR) 5-2 (11-1) Led and set good pace, hit 5th, joined and mistake 3 out, mistake and headed soon after next, no chance with winner, held on for 2nd, 2nd of 6, 11l behind Sire De Grugy (11-12) at Chepstow 2m hcp chs (2) sft in Oct.
His Excellency (IRE) 25-1 (11-7) Not always fluent in last pair, pushed along and struggling in 6th after 4 out, never a factor, tailed off, 8th of 9, 41l behind Sire De Grugy (11-7) at Sandown 2m Grade 1 chs (4yo+) (1) gd.
