MUKHADRAM is probably one of the season's most progressive horses but he's had the misfortune of coming up against Al Kazeem and there's a cogent argument to suggest he was unlucky not to be second to that rival in the Eclipse at Sandown. The market should give us the best idea as to what to anticipate from The Apache on his return from an absence. Mike De Kock's six-year-old won a Group 2 at Meydan before being placed in the Jebel Hatta and the Dubai Duty Free. Grandeur bagged a pair of Grade 2's in America last year and he may have needed his reappearance at Newmarket after eight months off the track. Wigmore Hall finished ahead of him on that occasion and he returns to the scene of his John Smith's Cup triumph back in 2010. Sri Putra has been disappointing this term while King George River appears up against it.
Mukhadram 15-2 (9-7) Led and set steady pace, driven over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, badly hampered last 110 yards, not recover and lost 2nd final 75 yards, 3rd of 7, 3 1/2l behind Al Kazeem (9-7) at Sandown 1m 2f Grp 1 (1) gf.
Grandeur (IRE) 7-1 (9-5) Held up in touch, ridden over 2f out, kept on towards finish, not trouble leaders, 4th of 6, 5l behind Universal (9-5) at Newmarket 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) gf.
Wigmore Hall (IRE) 5-1 (9-2) Held up in rear, ridden 2f out, never a factor, 5th of 6, 8l behind Universal (9-5) at Newmarket 1m 4f Grp 2 (1) gf.
The Apache (SAF) 10-1 (9-0) 2nd of 14, 1 3/4l behind Sajjhaa (8-9) at Meydan(UAE) 1m 1f Grp 1 (1) gd in Mar.
Sri Putra 9-1 (9-5) Took keen hold, held up in last trio, pushed along and struggling 3f out, never a factor, 9th of 11, 21l behind Mandour (9-5) at Sandown 1m 2f Listed stks 3yo (1) gf.
King George River (IRE) 8-1 (8-13) Dwelt held up in rear, headway over 2f out, chased winner approaching final furlong, kept on, no chance with winner but clear of remainder, 2nd of 7, 3 1/2l behind Intello (8-13) at Newmarket 1m 1f Listed stks 3yo (1) gd in Apr.
