Itlaaq won this in 2011 and isn't badly treated but generally likes a bit more ease in the ground than he'll get here. Almagest is on exactly the same mark as when last successful at Beverley in August and looked on the way back at the East Yorkshire track last time when just failing to catch Stopped Out. He'll go well in that kind of form but like the remainder is likely to struggle to concede weight to SEE AND BE SEEN. He gained his fourth victory of the year at Newbury last time when finishing well on top over this trip so a 5lb rise shouldn't prevent another success. Ex Oriente tackles the trip for the first time but wasn't stopping over 1m6f at Sandown and could provide the main threat.
Itlaaq 25-1 (9-0) Held up mid-division, ridden over 1f out, kept on same pace, 5th of 10, 3 1/2l behind Kings Fete (8-8) at York 1m 4f hcp 0-100 (2) gf.
See And Be Seen 14-1 (8-6) Chased leader, led going well 3f out, stayed on well, driven out, won at Newbury 2m hcp 0-85 (4) gd beating Romeo Montague (9-5) by 2l, 13 ran.
Grandorio (IRE) 14-1 (9-4) Held up in rear, ridden and headway over 2f out, kept on one pace, 8th of 10, 4 1/2l behind Kings Fete (8-8) at York 1m 4f hcp 0-100 (2) gf.
Almagest 6-1 (10-0) Held up towards rear, switched right and headway over 1f out, soon chased winner, kept on and just held close home, 2nd of 6, nk behind Stopped Out (9-9) at Beverley 2m hcp 0-85 (4) gd.
Ex Oriente (IRE) 9-2 (9-6) Dwelt and stumbled leaving stalls, in rear, ridden and headway entering final furlong, ran on, 3rd of 7, 3/4l behind Alwilda (10-0) at Sandown 1m 6f hcp 0-85 (4) gf.
Be Perfect (USA) 40-1 (9-4) Led, driven and headed over 3f out, soon behind, 12th of 13, well behind Angel Gabrial (9-3) at Ripon 2m hcp 0-105 (2) gd in Apr.
Argent Knight 50-1 (9-0) Tracked leaders on inside, pushed along 3f out, ridden and unable to quicken 2f out, kept on same pace in 5th over 1f out, 5th of 13, 8l behind Pique Sous (9-2) at Royal Ascot 2m 6f stks (2) gf in Jun.
