DUCAB has had to endure a series of near misses but he was a definite hit in a Chester maiden and Roger Varian's colt appears more than capable of following up today. Sadiq has won his last two races at Brighton and was 11 lengths clear of his rivals on his handicap debut. With the handicapper likely to take a dim view of that margin, it's no surprise to see him turned out quickly. Dumbarton didn't do a lot wrong on a first start for Philip Hobbs and there's an argument to suggest that he's well treated in relation to some of his earlier form for Sir Michael Stoute. Ningara is a previous winner at Sandown over nine furlongs though he was unable to quicken off a slow pace when recently tried over this trip.
Ningara 7-2 (8-10) Took keen hold, tracked winner 1f, tracked leaders, pushed along over 2f out, ridden and pushed right over 1f out, 5th and no impression final furlong, 5th of 7, 4l behind Circus Turn (9-3) at Sandown 1m 2f 3yo hcp 0-85 (4) gf.
Sadiq 6-4 (8-8) Took keen hold, prominent, led 6f out, clear over 1f out, easily, won at Brighton 1m 2f hcp 0-80 (4) fm beating Bartack (9-4) by 11l, 3 ran.
Dumbarton (IRE) 5-1 (9-5) Tracked leading pair, went 2nd on bit over 2f out, led over 1f out, soon hung right and bobbled, headed inside final furlong, no extra, 2nd of 4, 1 1/4l behind Sunny Future (9-10) at Salisbury 1m 4f hcp 0-75 (5) gf.
Scottish Star 7-1 (9-6) Tracked leader, ridden 3f out, driven over 1f out, kept on under pressure inside final furlong, 4th of 9, 1 3/4l behind Cashpoint (9-2) at Sandown 1m 2f hcp 0-80 (4) gf in Jun.
Master Ming (IRE) 8-1 (9-7) Tracked leading pair, went 2nd 8f out, pushed along to lead 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, no extra and lost 3rd inside final furlong, 4th of 8, 4l behind Pomology (9-7) at Kempton 1m 3f 3yo hcp 0-80 (4) pol.
Ducab (IRE) 6-5fav (9-1) Slowly into stride, soon tracking leader, led inside final 3f, clear over 1f out, kept on strongly, ridden right out, won at Chester 1m 2f mdn stks (4) gs in Jun beating Khudoua (9-1) by 2 1/4l, 4 ran.
Arabian Heights 33-1 (9-3) Steaded start, held up in rear, no chance and struggling when switched right over 2f out, 18th of 20, 22l behind Danadana (9-4) at Newmarket 1m 2f hcp 0-90 (3) gf in May '12.
