There are few better trainers at placing their horses in the correct grade than Tony Carroll, whose WAVING is set to complete a hat-trick. An acquisition from John Oxx, the lightly-raced son of High Chaparral has really come into his own over the past few weeks and though very closely matched with Blazing Desert, whom he beat a neck over the track and trip last time, he can continue on the upgrade and can go in again. Carroll also runs Pahente, who scored at Kempton last month and didn't get the clearest of runs at Lingfield on Saturday. Wordiness looks a big threat as he was a very convincing winner here three weeks ago and the assessor hasn't gone overboard with a 6lb rise which will be completely wiped out by his young rider's claim.
Blazing Desert 11-4 (9-3) Tracked leader until over 5f out, went 2nd again over 3f out, challenged 2f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, headed close home, 2nd of 5, nk behind Waving (9-2) at Wolverhampton 1m 4f hcp 0-75 (5) pol.
Pahente 6-1 (9-2) Awkwardly away, in touch in rear, ridden 2f out, not trouble leaders, 5th of 6, 4l behind Scottish Boogie (9-9) at Lingfield 1m 5f hcp 0-75 (5) pol.
Wordiness 5-2fav (9-1) Chased leaders, went 3rd over 3f out, going well when struck on face with rival whip over 2f out, went 2nd well over 1f out, led over 1f out, ridden clear, won at Wolverhampton 1m 4f hcp 0-65 (6) pol beating Day Of Destiny (9-4) by 2 3/4l, 7 ran.
All The Winds (GER) 14-1 (9-7) In touch, hung right from halfway, weakened quickly over 2f out, soon pulled up, in a race won by Rapid Heat Lad (9-3) at Wolverhampton 1m 6f hcp 0-75 (5) pol in Jan, 7 ran.
Rawaafed (IRE) 13-2 (9-4) Soon with leader, led narrowly over 3f out, pushed along over 2f out, headed over 1f out, lost 2nd place when weakening towards finish, 3rd of 9, 1 1/4l behind Miss Dashwood (9-3) at Wolverhampton 1m 1f hcp 0-75 (5) pol in Oct.
Waving 2-1fav (9-2) Tracked leading trio, went 3rd well over 2f out, chased leader inside final furlong, ridden and stayed on to lead close home, won at Wolverhampton 1m 4f hcp 0-75 (5) pol beating Blazing Desert (9-3) by nk, 5 ran.
