Recent winners Norfolk Sky and Scottish Boogie are both upped in class for this, although Layline could figure once again back on the Polytrack after an outing at Southwell. Be Perfect disappointed at Kempton last time but won in similar company over 2m2f at York earlier in the year. A couple of these make their respective debuts for Tony Carroll's yard. Wildomar has the past form to get involved on his first start since May but stablemate SPIRITOFTOMINTOUL is preferred. The latter scored over 2m at Kempton for Warren Place back in August and has plenty of scope for improvement.
Layline (IRE) 20-1 (9-3) Led after 2f, headed 3f out, stayed on same pace, 3rd of 7, 3 1/2l behind St Ignatius (9-3) at Southwell 1m 4f hcp 0-85 (4) fbs.
Clerk's Choice (IRE) 20-1 (9-0) Held up last, headway from 2f out, soon switched right, switched left and stayed on between horses inside final furlong, went 3rd close home, never nearer, 3rd of 13, 2l behind Presburg (8-12) at Kempton 1m 4f hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Nov.
Be Perfect (USA) 6-1 (9-9) Held up in last trio, headway on inside to chase leaders
Scottish Boogie (IRE) 20-1 (10-0) Held up behind, driven and headway on outside entering straight, went 2nd inside final furlong, stayed on well to lead towards finish, readily, won at Wolverhampton 1m 6f hcp 0-75 (5) pol in Nov beating Montjess (9-1) by 1 1/4l, 10 ran.
Norfolk Sky 6-1 (9-6) Held up in last pair, closer order into mid-division approaching halfway, went 2nd on inside 2f out, led over 1f out, stayed on and ridden clear inside final furlong, won at Kempton 2m hcp 0-75 (5) pol in Nov beating Eshtyaaq (9-11) by 3 1/2l, 10 ran.
Nave (USA) 20-1 (9-2) Held up last, plugged on inside final furlong, never going pace to threaten, 7th of 8, 9l behind Arch Villain (9-13) at Kempton 2m hcp (2) pol in Nov.
Spiritoftomintoul 9-4fav (8-13) Behind, headway on outer over 2f out, led over 1f out, stayed on strongly, won at Kempton 2m hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Aug beating Cousin Khee (9-6) by 3 1/2l, 13 ran.
Tuscan Gold 16-1 (9-9) Slowly away keen towards rear, headway on outer over 8f out, weakened over 3f out, 8th of 13, 42l behind Sign Manual (9-0) at Newbury 2m hcp 0-80 (4) gs in Apr.
Wildomar 100-1 (8-12) Towards rear, weakened over 3f out, tailed off, 11th of 12, well behind No Heretic (9-1) at Newmarket 1m 4f hcp 0-105 (2) gf in May.
