Three-year-olds have a very good record in this so LINE DRUMMER, whose two career victories have come on heavy ground, can continue the trend after a fine effort on fast going in a tough handicap at the Curragh. Brendan Brackan has been in superb form and won't mind the conditions though he has a penalty to carry for his victory in a Group 3 last time. It will still be a surprise if he's not involved in the finish while Rich Coast ploughed through the mud to land a strong handicap at Listowel and any further rain would put him right in the picture. Tandem was a long way behind Brendan Brackan at Galway but is now 9lb better off so should get much closer.
Rich Coast 10-1 (9-13) Always prominent, tracked leader in 2nd until led 3f out, asserted entering straight and clear advantage over 1f out, kept on well inside final furlong, won at Listowel 1m 1f hcp hvy in Sep beating Quick Jack (8-4) by 2 1/2l, 9 ran.
Brendan Brackan (IRE) 9-2 (9-7) Chased leader in 2nd, ridden 1 1/2f out, stayed on to lead last 150 yards, kept on well closing stages, won at Curragh 1m Grp 3 (1) gd in Sep beating Ansgar (9-7) by 2l, 10 ran.
Beacon Lodge (IRE) 14-1 (9-8) Towards rear, raced on outer straight, headway to chase leaders under 2f out, led under 1f out, stayed on well, comfortably, won at Tipperary 7f hcp 60-100 beating Bubbly Bellini (9-6) by 2 1/4l, 15 ran.
Croi An Or (IRE) 25-1 (9-9) A little awkward leaving stalls, soon chased leaders, 6th and not much room from 2f out, tended to edge a bit left, in the clear and kept on same pace inside final furlong, 4th of 10, 3 1/2l behind Wannabe Better (8-12) at Killarney 1m Listed stks (1) gd in Aug.
Line Drummer (FR) 7-1 (9-13) Towards rear, ridden and progress into 10th 2f out, 6th 1f out, stayed on strongly final furlong to dispute 2nd on line, never nearer, 2nd of 22, 1/2l behind Campanology (10-0) at Curragh 1m hcp gf in Sep.
Pop Art (IRE) 20-1 (9-0) Dwelt, towards rear, ridden to chase leaders straight, no impression and kept on same pace from over 1f out, 7th of 10, 12l behind Sruthan (9-3) at Tipperary 7f Grp 3 (1).
Tandem 7-2 (9-10) Chased leaders, 5th on outer 2f out, soon ridden, went 3rd inside final furlong, kept on without threatening, 3rd of 7, 1 3/4l behind The United States (9-3) at Leopardstown 1m 2f Grp 3 (1) gd in Sep.
