OSCAR WHISKY won this 12 months ago when conceding weight to a small-but-select field and should take all the beating again. He made a smooth return to action in a Grade 2 at Ascot and it's difficult to see third Brampour getting much close here on similar terms. Crack Away Jack's second to Tidal Bay in a Grade 2 at Wetherby was confirmation that he is back to something near his best but it could be his future now lies over 3m or further.
Oscar Whisky (IRE) 8-15fav (11-8) Made all, pushed readily clear after 2 out, unchallenged after, eased flat, won at Ascot 2m 3f hdl G2 (1) hvy in Nov beating Raya Star (11-4) by 8l, 4 ran.
Crack Away Jack 14-1 (11-0) Held up towards rear, headway 9th, ridden and hit last, headed flat, kept on and no chance with winner, 2nd of 6, 4 1/2l behind Tidal Bay (11-0) at Wetherby 3m 1f hdl G2 (1) gs in Nov.
Brampour (IRE) 9-1 (11-4) Raced wide, disputed 2nd until 4 out, driven and outpaced in 3rd before 2 out, soon no impression with front pair, hit last, 3rd of 4, 14l behind Oscar Whisky (11-8) at Ascot 2m 3f hdl G2 (1) hvy in Nov.
