BOB FORD would have a big chance in this if able to reproduce his two-length second to Mendip Express at Bangor in November but he has something to prove now having been pulled up in two starts last month, albeit in better company. Alpha Victor is hardly reliable himself, however, and there are question marks on his return to chasing as he refused when last seen over the larger obstacles. He also has a penalty to carry but is still preferred to Bill Kinsey's other runner, Strike Fast. Ex-pointer Danners has been well beaten in his three starts to date under Rules.
Alpha Victor (IRE) 25-1 (11-7) Close up, pushed along 8th, headway to lead 3 out, stayed on strongly flat, won at Bangor 3m hcp hdl 0-130 (3) hvy in Feb beating Jaunty Journey (10-0) by 11l, 6 ran.
Bob Ford (IRE) 4-1 (10-11) Led, jumped left 1st, headed before 7th, weakened and mistake 8th, pulled up before 5 out, in a race won by Bobcatbilly (10-8) at Haydock 2m 5f (3) hvy in Feb, 6 ran.
Danners (IRE) 66-1 (10-9) Took keen hold, always last, outpaced 11th (4 out), no chance after, well tailed off, last of 4, well behind Smad Place (11-5) at Newbury 3m nov chs (3) hvy in Feb.
Strike Fast (IRE) 66-1 (10-13) In rear, weakened from 10th, tailed off, last of 4, well behind Pinerolo (11-4) at Newcastle 3m nov chs (2) hvy in Feb.
