Valid Reason has been struggling lately but isn't badly treated today. Waldorf Salad is on a hat-trick after victories at Huntingdon and Taunton but has shot up the weights while Spencer Lea has 7lb extra after scoring at Ludlow, though is only lightly-raced. WESTAWAY also carries a penalty but was very impressive at Newbury last week and is from a family that often improve with age. David Arbuthnot's charge is taken to follow up as Berkeley Barron was well beaten at Exeter after finishing fourth in a Grade 2 at Chepstow in the autumn, though should strip fitter here. San Telm has his sights lowered a little and can't be ruled out.

Westaway (IRE) 3-1fav (11-8) Slightly hampered 1st, tracked leading pair, went 2nd before 4th, led 2 out, 6 lengths ahead last, stayed on strongly run in, won at Newbury 2m 5f hcp hdl 0-120 (4) hvy beating Pilgreen (11-0) by 13l, 10 ran.

Nataani (IRE) 50-1 (10-10) Towards rear, some headway into mid-division 7th, pushed along and struggling 11th, tailed off, 8th of 14, 28l behind Al Co (11-0) at Chepstow 3m hcp chs 0-150 (2) gd in Oct.
