QUARTON and Mydor ran in a handicap over 2m1f here on Friday when the former started favourite after a fine run over this trip at Down Royal. He couldn't quite peg back the shock winner Portrade but stayed on strongly and can make amends. Mydor was well beaten and looks held but Roman General gained his only success in 19 career starts when tackling fast ground at Tipperary in April and with Ger Fox using his claim he doesn't look overburdened. Vasco Du Mee is a consistent performer over hurdles and fences and he's another who won't mind the conditions after a convincing victory at Perth last month. The veteran Marshim is in really good form and followed a narrow defeat by Mydor at Tipperary with another fine run in a big field there. Good Decision was in very good form around this time a year ago and he'll have needed the run at Wexford last time.
Mydor (FR) 4-1fav (10-3) Held up towards rear, progress from 4 out, 4th after 3 out, challenged entering straight, narrow lead 2 out, ridden and disputed before last, mistake and headed last, under pressure in 2nd run-in, rallied well to lead close home, won at Tipperary 2m 4f hcp hdl 80-102 in May beating Marshim (11-9) by 1/2l, 20 ran.
Quarton (IRE) 8-1 (11-10) Held up in rear, took keen hold, jumped left 2nd, not fluent 3rd, went 7th 3 out, 4th 2 out, soon switched left, went moderate 2nd from before last, kept on well without threatening run-in, 2nd of 10, 2 1/2l behind Leibniz (10-12) at Down Royal 2m 4f hcp hdl 80-102 gf in Jun.
Long House Hall (IRE) 8-1 (11-10) Held up towards rear, hampered 5th, ridden and no impression after 3 out, 11th of 20, 37l behind Big Generator (11-8) at Tipperary 2m 4f hcp hdl 80-116 gd in Jun.
Coldstonesober (IRE) 14-1 (10-7) Soon chased leaders, pushed along after bypassed 3 out, 6th approaching straight, no impression from after 2 out, kept on one pace, 5th of 11, 9l behind Indian Icon (11-7) at Kilbeggan 2m hcp hdl gf in Jun.
