Polar Kite is the pick here on official ratings but he's hardly raised a gallop since winning at Pontefract in August last year. Fairy Wing's recent form is also a cause for concern while Frequency has lost his way since scoring over a shorter trip at Ayr in August. Only Ten Per Cent's best form has come at Southwell while Imprimis Tagula and April Fool don't win very often nowadays. FATHSTA isn't the force of old but must have a decent chance on these terms if able to reproduce the form he showed on Turf in this type of race in the summer and he has won around here.
April Fool 10-1 (9-0) Dwelt soon led, ridden and headed over 1f out, no extra inside final furlong, 6th of 11, 6l behind Corporal Maddox (9-6) at Lingfield 7f clm stks (6) pol in Nov.
Fathsta (IRE) 20-1 (9-1) Held up in rear, under pressure over 3f out, stayed on from over 1f out, never on terms, 8th of 11, 10l behind Cockney Dancer (9-2) at Wolverhampton 7f hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Nov.
Polar Kite (IRE) 40-1 (9-2) Mid-division, weakened over 2f out, last of 12, 33l behind Anjaz (9-0) at Wolverhampton 1m 1f hcp 0-95 (3) pol in Nov.
Only Ten Per Cent (IRE) 6-1 (9-6) Held up, ridden and headway over 1f out, kept on one pace, 5th of 12, 5l behind Fayr Fall (9-1) at Southwell 7f hcp 0-75 (5) fbs in Nov.
Frequency 16-1 (9-1) Steadied start, behind, headway on inside when not clear run over 1f out, soon switched right, never dangerous, 10th of 12, 13l behind Kingscroft (9-7) at Wolverhampton 7f hcp 0-85 (4) pol in Nov.
Imprimis Tagula (IRE) 25-1 (8-10) Close up, ridden 2f out, weakened final furlong, 8th of 11, 6l behind Corporal Maddox (9-6) at Lingfield 7f clm stks (6) pol in Nov.
Lord Deevert 20-1 (8-2) Dwelt in rear, ridden 3f out, never near leaders, 7th of 12, 8l behind Bassett Road (9-6) at Salisbury 7f hcp 0-60 (6) hvy in Oct.
Fairy Wing (IRE) 11-1 (9-0) Tracked leader in 2nd, disputed 3f out until headed 1 1/2f out, soon no extra and weakened, 9th of 15, 15l behind Brendan Brackan (9-2) at Curragh 1m hcp 60-100 in Sep.
Le King Beau (USA) 14-1 (9-6) Chased leaders, ridden when bumped over 2f out, soon beaten, 12th of 13, 16l behind Silver Lace (9-1) at Kempton 7f 3yo hcp 0-65 (6) pol in Aug.
