Lyn Valley had little to beat at Newmarket last month but had finished second in this grade over 6f here previously and can't be ignored. This looks too hot for recent Wolverhampton winner Al Baz, however, while Intermath is likely to find at least one too good again and only ran at Chester on Friday. WAHAAB was a little keen in the Coventry at Royal Ascot and will have to settle better to get home over this extra furlong. But he still finished ahead of Rosso Corsa and is probably the one to beat with Classified Weapon only third when odds-on on the Polytrack in June.
Intermath (IRE) 9-1 (9-5) Close up, ridden and outpaced 2f out, headway entering final furlong, no impression towards finish, 4th of 7, 4 1/2l behind Nezar (9-1) at Chester 7f 2yo hcp 0-95 (3) gd in Aug.
Lyn Valley 2-5fav (9-5) Made all, soon pressed, ridden and edged left 2f out, asserted inside final furlong, won at Newmarket 6f 2yo mdn (4) gd in Aug beating Greed Is Good (9-5) by 2 1/2l, 7 ran.
Rosso Corsa 33-1 (9-0) Took keen hold tracking leading pair on inside until 3f out, pushed along and weakened over 2f out, last of 4, 9l behind Kingman (9-0) at Sandown 7f 2yo Grp 3 (1) gf in Aug.
Wahaab (IRE) 16-1 (9-1) Close up, ridden and every chance over 1f out, kept on same pace, 7th of 15, 10l behind War Command (9-1) at Royal Ascot 6f 2yo Grp 2 (1) gd in Jun.
Classified Weapon (USA) 4-5fav (9-5) Held up in last pair, pushed along and outpaced over 2f out, plugged on to 3rd 1f out, kept on to press for 2nd in closing stages, never any chance with winner, 3rd of 7, 4l behind Miracle of Medinah (9-5) at Lingfield 6f 2yo mdn stks (5) pol in Jun.
Al Baz 85-40 (9-5) Raced keenly, made all, pushed along 2f out, stayed on well, won at Wolverhampton 7f 2yo nov auc stks (5) pol in Jul beating Zain Zone (9-2) by 1 1/4l, 6 ran.
