RACING PULSE was withdrawn from a Grade 2 at Doncaster last week on account of the heavy going. He ran well in a decent contest at Cheltenham after winning at Newcastle and, with the step up to 3m certain to suit, should get back to winning ways today. Despite racing freely, Medieval Chapel wasn't disgraced at Ascot last time and has plenty of scope. He makes more appeal than Doncaster third Powerscourt Dreams and Seeyouatmidnight, who was a 66/1 chance when winning a Hexham novice event in December. Clondaw Hero showed his Bangor run was all wrong when scoring by 10 lengths over course and distance in November but faces much tougher opposition now.
Seeyouatmidnight 66-1 (10-12) Made all, ridden before last, kept on well towards finish, won at Hexham 2m nov hdl (4) sft in Dec beating Regal Encore (11-5) by 2l, 11 ran.
Racing Pulse (IRE) 15-8fav (11-8) Tracked leader, led 4th, mistake next, headed approaching 3 out, every chance approaching last, stayed on flat, no impression on winner inside final 100 yards, 3rd of 6, 2 1/2l behind Aubusson (11-1) at Cheltenham 2m 4f nh nov hdl (3) sft in Jan.
Medieval Chapel (FR) 14-1 (10-9) Took keen hold tracking leaders, pushed along after 7th, driven before 2 out, stayed on approaching last, ran on flat, almost snatched 3rd, 4th of 9, 17l behind Royal Boy (11-0) at Ascot 2m 6f NH mdn hdl (3) sft in Dec.
Powerstown Dreams (IRE) 18-1 (10-12) Held up in touch, pushed along and headway approaching 3 out, went 3rd 3 out, stayed on well flat, almost snatched 2nd, no impression on winner, 3rd of 21, 5l behind Oscar Hoof (10-12) at Doncaster 2m 3f nov hdl (4) gs in Dec.
Clondaw Hero (IRE) 7-2 (11-0) Made all, driven approaching 2 out, forged clear last, ran on strongly, won at Musselburgh 3m mdn hdl (4) gd in Nov beating Desgrey (11-0) by 10l, 6 ran.
