Sandy Thomson is relishing the opportunity to try Seeyouatmidnight among the more exalted company of the Betfred Mobile Hurdle at Haydock.

From the dozen horses he trains from Lambden near Kelso, Seeyouatmidnight is easily the best and made a swift transition from Irish point-to-points by beating Champion Bumper runner-up Regal Encore at Hexham and bolting up in a valuable novice hurdle at Musselburgh earlier this month.

A clash with Long Distance Hurdle winner and last season's Ladbrokes World Hurdle second Celestial Halo, though, is a different test altogether.

"It's very exciting - what dreams are made of really," said Thomson.

"The horse is very well. The ground is a concern but it will be the same for everyone. All being well, he should go very well."

Looking further ahead, the six-year-old can still revert to novice events but does not have a Cheltenham Festival entry.

"I think we'd look at Aintree," Thomson said. "I'd imagine he'd go novice chasing next season as he's already quite a mature horse, but let's wait and see what happens."

Celestial Halo is warming up for the staying crown at Cheltenham, where he is expected to add strength to Paul Nicholls' challenge behind Big Buck's. The veteran got an infection after his win at the Hennessy meeting.

"He's been a fantastic horse, he won a Triumph, finished second in the World Hurdle and went on to win a good race at Auteuil last year," said Nicholls.

"Whatever he does he'll improve for the run as we were held up a bit with him. He needs a tough race to get him back for the World Hurdle."

The Grade Two, better known as the Rendlesham, has nine declared but it is the second preference for both Two Rockers and Restless Harry.

This leaves the other serious contender as Henry Daly's grey mare Mickie, who has won two staying handicap hurdles this term.
