Road To Riches drops back in distance at Leopardstown on Thursday for an intriguing renewal of the Grade One Racing Post Novice Chase.

The six-year-old performed well when third in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse over two and a half miles, and trainer Noel Meade is keen to see how he performs coming back in distance.

He said: "We're coming back to two miles (and a furlong) with him as we just have a theory that is as far as he wants.

"He just didn't seem to get home in the Drinmore over two and a half miles. He had them all cooked turning in that day and he just ran out of petrol from the last to the line.

"He won over three miles over hurdles, but he nearly fell in that day as it didn't take a lot of winning.

"He looked good in Naas at two miles and again at Fairyhouse last time, so we'll give it a go and we'll know where we stand after this anyway, that's for sure.

"It's a very good race, but we're in there having a go."

Dessie Hughes' Art Of Logistics was a well-beaten fifth in the Drinmore, but the trainer believes his charge was not at his best on that occasion.

Hughes said: "It's a very hot race, so we'll see what happens.

"Our horse ran a bit below himself last time, but we're hopeful he can bounce back.

"He's normally very free and, for whatever reason, he was very flat the last day.

"We think he's better than that and if he can be placed in a Grade One we'll be delighted."

The Willie Mullins-trained Champagne Fever is set to be a warm favourite and the Paul Nolan-trained Defy Logic adds further spice. The sextet of runners is completed by the Charles Byrnes-trained Trifolium and Tony Martin's Ted Veale.
