Olly Stevens is hoping to strike while the iron is hot with his unbeaten filly Lightning Thunder in the Aqlaam Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.

Stevens has enjoyed a great first season at his Surrey base, training principally for Sheikh Fahad Al Thani's Pearl Bloodstock and Qatar Racing Limited organisations.

With a Royal Ascot winner and a Group Two success already on his C.V. his future looks bright and Lightning Thunder has earned her chance in this Group Three by winning at Newbury and Doncaster.

Part-owned by Mohammed Al Kubasi and Pearl Bloodstock, the Dutch Art filly is running here in preference to the Rockfel Stakes in two weeks.

"The plan was to go for the Rockfel Stakes, but at this time of year fillies can suddenly go in their coat and I would never have forgiven myself if we waited and missed this opportunity," Stevens told www.qatarracingltd.com.

"It's all a learning curve for young horses and it won't be the end if she's beaten.

"Extortionist learned something from his defeat at York in May, and then won Royal Ascot's Windsor Castle Stakes next time out."

Clive Brittain won the race in 2011 with Alsindi and runs Stealth Missile, who improved massively from her debut to win an Ascot maiden six weeks later.

"She is a useful filly and won well last time. This is a step up but we are hopeful she can get in the first three," owner Saeed Manana's racing manager Bruce Raymond told www.rabbah.co.uk

Sir Michael Stoute's Radiator is likely to be all the rage after a 15-length maiden win while Andre Fabre runs Miss France.
