Seabass makes his first racecourse appearance since finishing third in last year's John Smith's Grand National in an interesting Racegoer's 25 euros Package Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Tuesday.

The 10-year-old was sent off joint-favourite to claim a second Aintree victory for Ted Walsh following Papillon in 2000 and gave daughter Katie a fantastic spin to be beaten just five lengths into third.

A return to Merseyside in April is on the agenda and Walsh is looking forward to getting him back on the track in the two-mile contest.

He said: "The distance is obviously a bit short, but it's a nice race to start him off in and we'll see what happens. He's as forward as you'd want him for his first run and we'll see how he gets on."

The Kildare trainer is keen to get Fairyhouse out of the way before making plans for the rest of the season, with the Racing Plus Chase at Kempton just one of numerous possible targets.

"There are loads of options for him for the next two months before Aintree. There are races at Fairyhouse, Punchestown, Leopardstown, Gowran and the race at Kempton," said Walsh.

"He'll probably have a couple of runs, but we'll see what the weights for the National are like when they're released."

Seabass faces five rivals on his comeback and is partnered by the trainer's son, Ruby Walsh.

The field is headed by the Willie Mullins-trained Make Your Mark, who has his first start since finishing down the field behind Simonsig in last season's Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

Dermot Weld's talented Flat performer Rock Critic bids for his second win from as many starts over hurdles, while Musawama, Count Salazar and Valley View Lady complete the line-up.
