For the first time in the history of Hunter Chasers & Point-to-Pointers, the authors have indicated which horses they feel have performed well and have the potential to becomeleading lights in Point-to-Pointing or Hunter Chasing.
Progressive horses that have already moved to professional yards have not been selected.
A Weatherbys Chase "star" is restricted to twelve horses in each book and it is hoped will become recognised as a mark of a leading light.
The fortunes of all of the horses will be followed throughout the season and
regular updates will be featured on the national website - www.pointtopoint.co.uk - and in the weekly Point-to-Point round-up on www.sportinglife.com.
The twelve horses selected to be the 2008/9 Chase Stars include Ardnaclancy.
He attracts the comment: "Enjoyed an excellent first season with five victories from seven attempts.....should certainly be able to hold his own in a higher grade than he has tackled so far."
The 51st edition of the 'Bible of Point-to-Pointing', the Mackenzie & Harris Hunter Chasers & Point-to-Pointers Annual, is published on 6th November.
