1730: Right team - I'm outta here. What a wonderful three days. Apologies to Michael Ord, Hugh J and others but there's no further update on Age Of Aquarius. Fingers are being kept firmly crossed that he'll he ok.

Canford Cliffs and Borderlescott the two highlights for me, wonderful races, at a stunning racecourse. It's been fun. Two office blogs with the assistance of Ben Linfoot to follow tomorrow and Saturday before four days at the York Ebor Meeting. Cannot wait.

Thanks for all the emails today, much appreciated again - and please send all your Friday thoughts to daveord55@gmail.com.

Right a chug north with a Will Hayler short-cut and Chinese restaurant recommendation to follow. What could go wrong? Shout Piscean home in the last for me.

1720: Time for the parish notices as Pete Naughton would say. Richard Hannon was recording his 200th Goodwood winner with Kalahaag. He played it down by saying "well it took me 40 years".

He urged Benni Anderson, who he's previously trained one horse for before, to make it today but the great man couldn't - however Hannon added: "He often pops down to the yard in his flying horsebox and is a very nice guy and very knowledgeable."

A flying horsebox? What's Benny doing in one those? Are we on the set of Harry Potter? Has RH partaken of Pimms. Going to google flying horseboxes.

1715: Backing Cansili Star on downhill tracks is the latest theory to be ditched. It's a long list. Citrus Star your winner and more than one person gave that one to me. Well done to all the winners

1710: Right. Off out to cheer on Cansili Star - a 7/1 chance. Likes downhill tracks. That's the theory and you always need theories.

1700: Mark In Newmarket gave us Dubawi Gulf yesterday for our previous race. Great effort sir and he writes: "Ok so we just missed out but stakes returned thanks to a generous 6/1 each way. I think they should be able to find a maiden for her to win though Ed Dunlops 28 day record of 2 wins from 47 runners does not inspire maximum confidence at the moment.

""Before you leave here's one of Micheal Stoutes for Sunday. A nice colt having it's second run by the name of Profundo Rosso, in the opening race at Chester. Very highly regarded and showing lots of improvement on the gallops.

"Enjoy the rest of your day and have a safe journey home. Look forward to when your next blogging (is that the right terminology)."

Cheers Mark. Office blogs tomorrow and Saturday before four days at the York Ebor Festival! Bring it on.

1658: Shaun Thorpe is more active than I gave him credit for. He writes: "Apart from my non Goodwood Picks, I have had a good day Invincible Soul, Fenella Fudge and Mortice all nice place bets, Bordlescott winner. Shame about Age of Aqaurius hopefully the horse pulls through. My last Goodwood pick for the day is Cansili Star can I finish the day off?

"Not learning my lesson I will aim to play up my winnings on Dr Darcey 630 and Licence to Till 735.

"Also best of luck to my fellow competitors in the 5th Annual Norfolk Sports Day, lets hope the champ Mr Raby doesn't defend his crown!"

Favourites are there to be beaten ST. Never forget that.

1655: Cansili Star did me a favour when winning at Epsom and is trusted with sending me to the VW Golf in a jovial mood this time around. Forgot to say I have some blueberries rather than minstrels for the drive home - it's the new me. Superfoods all the way!

1650: The wind is getting up here as my time at Glorious Goodwood 2010 draws to a close. There will be blogs though tomorrow and Saturday - just from the TV! We'll have the same fun, trust me, I'm a doctor.

This has been a wonderful three days and I genuinely wish I wasn't leaving. It's been fantastic. If you can get here for the next two days - please do. You won't regret it.

1645: The General has the life of riley. He writes: "See the best turned out theory is going well Dave, Ships Biscuit was beat, is that 8 in a row at Goodwood...beaten?

"A night at the Gascoigne in Garforth tonight for the quiz. If Im struggling whats your specialist subject Dave?"

Either The social and ecomomic ramifications of the Russian Revolution or Westlife: The Hits. You choose sir.

1643: Rich Lynn is another to have learned a valuable lesson there. He says: "Went in with you on that one!! Must remind myself not to back against hannon/hughes 2yr olds!!" What a season they're having RL.

1640: Another Hannon-Hughes winner. Kalahaag gets a beautiful split next to the far rail to beat Dubawi Gulf and Radio Two's Fenella Fudge. The winner carries the colours of Abba's Benny Anderson. I didn't know he had horses with anyone other than John Dunlop. Mamma mia.

1638: Thanks to Martin Damm. FF is actually a Radio 2 newsreader. I'm not quite the aficionado I claimed to be.

1632: Interesting money for Sir Michael Stoute's newcomer Regal Heiress. She's bred to be a two-year-old but the Freemason Lodge team's juveniles are needing their first run this year.

1630: Fenella Fudge is named after a famous newsreader. I believe she broadcasts on Radio Four for those who aren't quite as refined as my good self.

1624: The juvenile maiden coming up - used to be a good one for Ord in the days when Dick Hern farmed it. Electra Star is our favourite but I'm with our man in headquarters Mark and have sided with Dubawi Gulf.

1620: A little line from the Goodwood Cup and it seems the Melbourne Cup could be on Illustrious Blue's agenda. He could be quite interesting there unless the Australian handicapper decides otherwise.

1614: MJ in good form. He said: "People kept asking me what my best bet of the week was but they were all in handicaps and the handicapper has their measure. This filly was the most improved horse in our yard last year and ended the campaign finishing fourth in a Group One in Canada.

"I thought she'd be winning Group Ones this year and she was given all the entries but for some reason it didn't happen for her in the spring. She's back now and I'd imagine we'd target the Canadian International in October."

1606: It had to happen - Mark Johnston is off the mark courtesy of Eastern Aria who is a clear-cut and 16-1 winner. Polly's Mark runs her usual gallant race in second but Flying Cloud adds to a disappointing week of Godolphin. She threatened briefly two but is ultimately well beaten. Perhaps she didn't stay but she wouldn't have won at any trip today.

1558: Another interesting market from Sky Bet following Borderlescott's win and Kieren Fallon is 4/7 to ride him in the Nunthorpe and it's 5/4 Neil Callan gets the ride back.

1555: Mark In Newmarket is with us at last! He writes: "Just got home in time to see the Goodwood Cup, It can be quite distressing seeing a horse break down but hopefully the veterinary staff can perform their magic. It's such a shame as it over shadowed an excellent finish.

"Looking through the results it seems that Group Therapy was beaten by the draw, are my assumptions right? I have not managed to see a replay yet.

"You are a very good judge of fine television though I had seen that episode a couple of times, recommendations for this evening much appreciated."

It may be that centre to far side is the place to be M - but I think the best horse won the race. As for the TV I've not looked given my five hour drive north tonight. However an hour of Two And A Half Men from 2100 BST on Comedy Central is always recommended!

1554: A test for the best turned out theory here team - it's Ship's Biscuit here.

1553: News on Age Of Aquarius and he's been assessed by the team of racecourse vets before being moved to the Arundel Veterinary Practice for further checks and examinations.

1552: Well onwards we go and I've taken Flying Cloud on with Polly's Mark. I've been disappointed by the Godolphin team overall this week but the favourite here does seem to be carrying plenty of stable confidence.

1550: The stewards like to keep busy here and they've cautioned Frankie Dettori after he was deemed guilty of careless riding in the Goodwood Cup.

1545: The General says: "Congratulations to another course favourite ILLUSTRIOUS BLUE winning today and a worthy Group success for messrs Knight and Crowley.

"Very sad to see Age of Aquarius break down like that and I hope he gets back to Ireland safe and sound Dave.."

Agree completely on both counts, and this is a place which really seems to suit certain horses. Illustrious Blue loves Goodwood and is in the form of his life this year.

1544: Age Of Aquarius hobbled into the horse ambulance before being driven away.

1540: The horse ambulance is now leaving the area where Age Of Aquarius was being treated. News as soon as I have it.

1531: This is a tough game at times. From the highs of Borderlescott to the awful sight of Age Of Aquarius breaking down in front in the Goodwood Cup. Illustrious Blue goes on to beat Electrolyser with Purple Moon third.

1525: Right off out to watch Purple Moon reel-in Age Of Aquarius here - well I can dream. If you fancy Borderlescott to win the Nunthorpe you can have 5/1 at Sky Bet. Won't be out of the frame is my rather bullish claim.

1520: Matt O'Driscoll asks: "Bloody hell Dave... I'm on 2 out of 2, should I start drinking now...?"

Yes - but only session bitter is my sage advice.

1518: Good news for Shaun Thorpe and his local dairy farmers. He writes: "First 2 GG bets of Invincible 16s ew and Bordlescott winning have covered all my other bets plus funding the dairy delight!

"Lets hope a couple more come in for some profit!" That's the spirit sir - ride the wave.

1512: Dave L asks: "Any thoughts on the ride given to Astrophysical Jet? I'm talking through my pocket but the horse was perfectly placed just in front of Borderlescot and instead of going round the outside like Fallon Gibbons opted to go inside so often he ended up on the rail. The manoeuvre certainly cost it more that the half length and head it was beaten."

I need to see the race again DL but Mr Gibbons has been referred to the BHA for another careless riding offence in the race.

1508: Peter From Dublin has what could be invaluable advice saying: "Happy days on B at 6's and 11/2 have followed Borderlescott for 4 years, as genuine as R Fahey. Weld for the 5.30 Galway. Hope the curry stays quiet for you !! If not fresh milk or yogurt works a treat."

Cheers for that sir - hope the service stations are well stocked!

1506: Stacey Blacksmith hit the crossbar with fifth-home Aatash in the first. Not beaten though and makes a good case for She's a Character in the 1710 contest, saying: "Aaattash 5th(thought jockey made a bit to much use of him, wasnt being challenged for the lead)maybe a drop back to a mile will reap rewards, had them all at it for a long way.

"5-10 throws up a pretty poor looking handicap, but a bit of group form in the shape of SHE'S A CHARACTER,looks very interesting on run at Royal Ascot last year followed by another here behind xtension in the Vintage Stakes.

"They make her odds of 75 on betfair look massive,i'll remind you that Xtension wasnt far behind the likes of Canford cliffs and Dick Turpin, and recently got beaten 3 1/2 lengths in a group1 in france.

"She's had excuses for recent defeats, ground and first time out,off 8st 2 lbs with sun on her back and faster ground, this could be a live one.

"Well done to Borderlescott tippers, grand old servant."

Old Borderlescott and Canford Cliffs have liftedthe spirits this week SB. No doubt about that.

1505: The General was one of a number to enjoy that, saying: "Great to see the old boy BORDERLESCOTT winning, a great representative for Yorkshire and Robin Bastiman. Cannot recall Fallon ever riding it before. Am I right Dave?"

Don't think he had sir. I sense he may do so again.

1503: I thought I had a celebrity fan when Alice Plunkett looked at me and said: "I've loved your work this week". Sadly she was talking to Jodie Kidd who I hadn't spotted was next to me.

1500: RB is one of the good guys and he can't wait for Borderlescott's crack at Equinao and a third Nunthorpe at York. He "may have to toss a coin" to decide whether Kieren Fallon or regular partner Neil Callan rides at the Knavesmire. My money's on the former champ.

1450: The gods are smiling again - Borderlescott wins the races. Off down to get the reaction. Robin Bastiman is one of the good guys. Elnawin was a 14/1 chance when withdrawn - there's a 5p rule four team.

1444: Elnawin withdrawn at the start. I've switched to a cable connection. The latter is for information purposes only.

1442: May be a few clues on offer for the draw for the Stewards' Cup here - talking of which Genki is 7/1 favourite with Sky Bet for the big one.

Roger Charlton's charge is berthed in stall 25 in the maximum 28-runner field and looks favoured by the far side draw as trainers first out of the hat chose the high numbers in today's draw ceremony.

Bunbury Cup runner-up Palace Moon will come out of stall 20 under Kieren Fallon and is next best at 8/1 with Sky Bet, while Sir Michael Stoute's filly Enact (9/1 from 10s) is the one for money in stall 27.

Matt Doyle says: "The consolation race will tell us more on Friday but most of the fancied runners are drawn high and we will be paying five places instead of four in an ultra competitive renewal"

Stewards' Cup, Goodwood, Saturday, Sky Bet odds: 7/1 Genki, 8/1 Palace Moon, 9/1 Enact, 10/1 Jonny Mudball, 14/1 Striking Spirit, Noverre To Go, Rileyskeepinfaith, 16/1 Johannes, Secret Asset, Castles In The Air, Kaldoun Kingdom, Knot in Wood, 20/1 Parisian Pyramid, Jimmy Styles, 25/1 Evens And Odds, Prohibit, Ingleby Lady, 28/1 Hitchens, Iver Bridge Lad, 33/1 Sir Gerry, Run For The Hills, Ancien Regime, Edge Closer, 40/1 Sonny Red, Prime Exhibit, Singeur, Advanced, 50/1 Everymanforhimslef. Each-way terms: ¼ odds, first 5 places (Sky Bet paying extra place)

1435: Starfish Bay has just passed the stands being ponied to the start. She's perfectly nice and looks well in her coat but I just can't see why Todd Pletcher is bringing her over here for a potential £44,000 pay-out. Trust me, that's small beer compared to what's on offer out in the States although if she is a turf sprinter I suppose opportunities are limited. As you can tell I'm confused! Why wasn't she here for Royal Ascot?

1432: I do see where so many of you are coming from with Amour Propre, if on-song he can go a fair old clip. Yard in form too.

1428: Right, the steel band plays on and it's time to move on. What a cracker we have coming up here. Borderlescott must hit the frame, hehandles the track, will bounce off the ground and will have a nice tow into the race. Wouldn't surprise me if he was second or third but he's the Ord choice.

Starfish Bay and Group Therapy are going to post early. The former is our American raider. I've always found Bob Bradley to be very good with his assessments of their chances.

1424: The General is indeed correct in saying we must congratulate Stuart Redmile for his 50/1 poke Right Step in our opener. Hope you were on each-way there SR. Great effort. Matt O'Driscoll gave us the winner too. Good effort that. Could have backed Beachfire - nay should have backed Beachfire.

1418: Gill Nevin already has a winner to her name - well money back. She writes: "I feel like I have saved myself a few quid already with Kite Wood now a non-runner. I wish people would stop talking about food, I have just polished off 6 "mini" caramel shortcakes and am feeling distinctly nauseous. It's comfort eating to dull the pain of not being at Goodwood but I now have a worse pain in my belly.

"The constant wailing of the fire alarm in my office isn't helping either although we have been assured this is due to ongoing maintenance work and not a fire. If you don't hear from me again, please sue on my behalf. Take 'em for every penny you can!"

Leave it to me Gill. I nearly did a Barbara Collier at work the other day when slipping in the gents. I recovered before I hit the deck. It would have cost them thousands.

1417: The winner wore a black noseband. You don't see many of them. Is it because he has a white face? I'm perplexed.

1415: If you'll all turn your backs I'm going to cry. Beachfire wins. In a thriller. Rigidity meets traffic problems as I thought the winner would. As I say, give me a couple of minutes.

1409: The best turned out theory is being seriously put to the test - it's Solicitor here..

1402: I've lost count on how many I could have backed here - in the end only one. Rigidity.

1357: Two non-runners in the first - 15 now go to post and three places each-way. I'm leaving the Placepot alone as a result. It's called a sulk.

1355: Stacey 'Verdant' Blacksmith is back and writes: "Tough racing today,1st race, the minefield handicap(lol) over 9 furlongs 192 yards, that Dandino form pops up again, but Cecils Rigitidy looked flattered to get so close, and Stoutes London Stripe done it over 12 furlongs,he doesnt seem to do anything to quick,so drop back may be against him here.

"There could be a grade jumper here,i couldnt get away from how well AATTASH has travelled in his last 2 races,he seems to settle much better now, after a 2nd over 10furlongs at Salisbury, his last win here over 9 Furlongs was very impressive, dictating the pace and quickening clear after having everything off the bridle a long way out, note, the owner has a very good record at this track.

"It doesnt look like he'll get taken on for the lead, only other possible pace maker is Cultivar, but he didnt make it last time, having pace to stay out of trouble and a turn of foot could be a potent weapon in this large field,18 on betfair is too tempting, small play."

    Interesting analysis again SB.

1352: Kite Wood is out of the Goodwood Cup. It hasn't rained. Brightening up again.

1350: Ladies' Day here - a fashion extravaganza. Should have held the red tie back for another day.

1345: The General is a satisfied man. It's no surprise. He writes: "Hi dave, had 2 quality pints of Daleside Blonde at The Grove In Holbeck to set me up for the afternoon. I did not know you have darts royalty such as Kevin The Artist Painter emailing you with their thoughts on the racing. What next? Dennis The Menace Priestley.

"Also, Im not a fish pie man myself, more a Steak Pie man, still a much under-rated dish south of Sheffield..."

I think you'll find General the steak pie is universally loved in this great land of ours! I once won the sportinglife.com darts tournament in The Grove. I hit double seven for a hugely popular success only for George Primarolo, now of totesport, to announce "14 scored". Ruined the moment.

Seconds later I asked the landlord to fill the trophy with Bombardier but after downing it in one I noticed all the enamel had come off with the fiery brew. I wasn't in work for days.

1340: Falbrav is back - again in reflective mood. He says: "Huge thanks to Kevan in Tripoli for uttering the words 'I must agree with Falbrav'.

"In fact, it reminded me of an article I read recently in the business section of the New York Times, which stated: 'The last time yields were this low as the economy expanded was in 1955, when Ray Kroc founded McDonald's Corp. and Bill Haley's 'Rock Around The Clock' topped the music charts.'.

"This, in turn, brought back memories of Timeform's Jim McGrath on Channel 4 racing some 19 years ago. When asked about Mystiko's chance in the 2000 Guineas, he retorted; 'The last time a free handicap winner took the second classic of the saeson (as it was then) Eddie Cochrane was hip'.

"Nobody has agreed with the inane drivel uttered by Falbrav since I exhorted the editor of The Beano to take Biffo The Bear off the front cover in favour of Dennis The Menace.

"As Kevan says, the Candy Man is in fine form and the historical precedents are in place for a surprise!"

You've almost persuaded me sir - but not quite!

1335: David Scally has a value poke for us in the opener - and he has every reason to be proud.

He writes: "As one of Dandino's 20,000 proud owners, I feel obliged to point out, in the interests of completeness that

"Dandino beat Verdant by 3L (D in receipt of 5lb) at Epsom, beat London Stripe by 3/4L (D conceding 3lb) at Royal Ascot but earlier at Doncaster, he beat Rigidity by 1.25 L (at levels) with INGLEBY SPIRIT a further neck third (Dandino in receipt of 5lb).

"Admittedly, Ingleby Spirit's done nowt since, but it's Fahy/Hanagan @ 33-1 (Ladbrokes). Make of that what you may."

I saw that formline this morning DS and there's no doubt Ingleby Spirit is weighted to run well but his last few runs have not been encouraging. I bow to no-one in my admiration for Mr Fahey but not for me here.

1330: Robert Bradley has indeed come up trumps regarding Starfish Bay in our second race.

Our man in America reports: "This seems to be an odd placement and I think it was the owner's decision to go based on a brief interview I saw with Pletcher. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks it could be a commercial situation looking to sell her or a vacation trip to the southern coast. There are few big money opportunities for turf sprinters in the US.

"She has won quite a few lesser allowance races, but when she went in a Group 3 on Kentucky Oaks day she only managed 6th place. Onthe positive side she does have that early American speed and she should be in the front early, but 5 furlongs looks like her maximum trip and when she starts heading up the hill at Goodwood, I think she will be found out for class and stamina by those salty veterans like Borderlescott and Group Therapy.

"I'd be taking her on at 6-1 and certainly wouldn't be backing her unless the number was in the teens. Pletcher is very dangerous with everything he sends out in a stake, but I just don't think this was his idea or plan."

Cheers Bob - top insight sir.

1320: Rich Lynn is a tease. He has a tip for one in America tonight and wants to know the best way to back it. I do think the exchanges will be relatively light RL but I'm not certain. Not my specialist subject. The Derby runners of Dick Hern 1977-1997 would have been had I gone on Mastermind. I didn't though. Never even made it to Fifteen To One.

1315: Not strictly Glorious Goodwood-related - well not at all in fact - but the teams for this year's Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup at Ascot on Saturday week are close to being finalised, with stars like six times British champion jockey Kieren Fallon, three times French champion Christophe Soumillon and five times Irish champion Pat Smullen signed up in the last 10 days for the world's premier international jockeys team competition.

"Both Soumillon and Smullen will be making their Shergar Cup debuts, while Fallon has not participated in it since 2004. All three of the Rest of the World jockeys - three times South African champion, Anton Marcus, top Japanese rider, Yasunari Iwata, and Melbourne's reigning champion jockey, Luke Nolen - will be making their UK debuts.

"Just four jockeys need to confirm their participation once they know whether they will be required by their retained stables - Ryan Moore and William Buick for the Great Britain team, Richard Hughes for the Ireland team and Frankie Dettori for the European team."

OK I admit, I just copied and pasted that in from a Racenews press release but I thought you may be interested.

1311: Daz says: "A good day yesterday,so hoping it continues today. Well done on verdant by the way too!

"Today's picks are London stripe in the 1st,the form stacks up well with dandino so fingers crossed for a win this time.

"Going for purple moon in the Big race I can't back the fav at the prices and the fact he has numerous 2nds has put me off.

"And flying cloud is my bet of the day. Will be disappointed if this one gets beat today. Drop in class and step up in trip should be in favour."

Best of luck Daz - I'm beginning to think the market strength behind Flying Cloud is significant.

1310: Hugh Jarse is back with us - writing: "2 winners yesterday out of 6 and nearly got The placepot up (5 from 6 - Royalorien let me Down big time)...Think Aquarius equals beer Tokens today and am quite sweet on Capponi In the 2.10."

That first race will sort the wheat from the chaff this afternoon. In the words of the great Frank Carson: "It's a cracker".

1305: A lot has happened in the last 20 minutes. I've had the curry, watery but tasty. Hope it wasn't a gamble too far this week. The millitary band are playing by the winning post and Geoff Lester has been given a Goodwood media award. Also the draw for the Stewards' Cup is through. Genki, one of my fancies, in 25.

1245: Before I roll thedice and take on the chicken curry, news from the Sky Bet trading room. And it seems we punters have come out to play.

Andy Twitchen writes: "The opening race is typically competitive and in SOLICITOR we have our worst result of the day but mainly from two substantial bets. Other money we would respect has been for LONDON STRIPE (7/2 from 9/2) and RIGIDITY (7/1 from 8/1)

"Fallon is an eye-catching booking for the popular BORDELESCOTT (11/2 from 6/1) in the king George stakes. ASTROPHSICAL JET for pricewise is the other one for money.

"In the 4.00 we are struggling to look beyond the Dettori ridden FLYING CLOUD (2/1 from 9/4) so we have laid plenty of the 2nd fav POLLY'S MARK (7/2 from 4/1).

"In the maiden ELECTRIC STAR has been backed like a very good horse (9/4 from 10/3) with a little bit of money for SMART STEP (12/1 from 16/1) in the same race

"All sorts have been backed in 5.10 but two against the field for good money are FIREBACK (11/2 from 13/2) and GENE AUTRY (13/2 from 9/1)

"The Dandy Nicholls sprinter CRIMEA has attracted money from a respected tipper (14/1 from 20/1) in the last so we will need that one beat along side COURAGEOUS who is 12/1 from 14/1."

1240: Harmony at last on the blog courtesy of Kevan In Tripoli who says: "Must agree with Falbrav regarding Amour Propre in the sprint. Already a winner of 2 group 3's and stable is starting to hit form ( 4 winners out of last 10 runners). What's for Lunch?"

I think it may be chicken curry and rice - which is a dilemma Kevan. I have a five-hour drive home in front of me and any unscheduled stops would be most unwelcome.

1237: Non-fish lovers will be glad the Sandown discussion is at an end after Matt O'Driscoll confirmed: "Salmon was the main fish, along with prawn and cod, seasoned with a touch of dill. We are in danger of sounding like Matt Dawson on Channel 4 racing at this rate Dave."

Come on Matt. I won't have that. I do like prawns in my fish pie though...

1235: Steven Smith says: "Just reading from "bottom up" and have to agree with you on the fish and chips in a Chinese ... burger and kebab? What is that all about?

"Anyway I ducked out of the Open at St Andrews as I knew is would be carnage on the ale front and sat in front of the tv watching it and getting the pictures of my colleagues taking a little break from events for a bit of shut eye just as the leaders tee'd off - Mr Nicoll you know who you are !!!!

"I also thought I was back at the Dubai World Cup when I was told it was £65 to enter ... for a moment I thought I had to take my clubs as that was surely the price to enter the competition itself rather than watch the dress up swingers!

"Looking at today's cards ... I think it's a very hard card to pick from and ducking out of the first two but I'm a Cumani man and e/w it's a bet to nothing, surely? Flying Cloud is a stand out in the 4pm. The 4:35 I'll go for Fenella Fudge as I have a mental Cocker Spaniel who is called Fudge so it has to win ... and for the lucky 15 ... Bajan Tryst in the last.

"On a football side of things - get your pie money on Arbroath to win the 3rd division in Scotland ... 11/4 and nailed on .. .you heard it first (and probably never again here...).

Arbroath? You're right SS - I've not heard it before. But I'm following you in. It's all about trust around here.

1230: Michael 'Not My Dad' Ord - and he isn't - writes: "Stuck in the metropolis yesterday and couldn't get to see the racing but have organised today rather better for what promises to be a feast of fun. Have a lot of time for Solicitor in the opener and have a cheeky e/w patent with him, Motrice in the 4.00 and the oh so well treated Stefanki in the 5.10

"I have to be on Age of Aquarius in the Goodwood Cup; Johnny's back, and the run of seconds (more twos than Bishop Desmond) has to come to an end. In the last, I think the King may be on a real springer in the shape of Indian Trail. I took some 7s early doors, won't be that at the off.

    "Have a great day."

And you our kid - Solicitor one of about 11 on my 'shortlist' for the opener. I've stuck with Rigidity. I was leaning towards Beachfire but he's going to need all the luck in the world with his racing style here.

1225: Word from our sponsors and Ryan Moore is 11/1 to ride a treble here today with Sky Bet. Kieren Fallon is 22/1 to boot home three winners and Frankie Dettori 66/1.

Today's enhanced treble is 33/1 and that's for Age Of Aquarius, Flying Cloud and Electra Star all to win.

1222: Please don't think Derek Bilton is kidding when he says: "Am punting the £275 I have set aside for my gas bill on Age of Aquarius. Two things:

    "1 Does it win?
"2 If not, how realistic is it to survive without gas until late September?"

    1. Maybe but no certaintity. 2. You are in the lap of the weather gods. An early overnight frost could wreak havoc on the famously weak Bilton chest. Also there's only a certain number of microwave meals a man can face. Trust me, I know.

1220: Kevin Painter has returned from his holidays in a confused state. Very confused! He writes: "Got back from holiday yesterday to find that Channel 4 racing have recruited Matt Dawson onto their team?! Somewhat confusing. In my confused state, here are my picks for today - 2.10 Aattash, 2.45 - Borderlescott (looks a great price to me), 3.25 - Age of Aquarius, 5.10 - Rakaan."

I'm led to believe Dawson has made a somewhat patchy start to his career as a racing broadcaster. I did enjoy the thing he did about seafood though. Then again I do like seafood.

1215: I was too late for nibbles. Too late for the draw too. It was in full flight. I can report sprint-king David Nicholls is wearing an adidas t-shirt and surf shorts. I'd imagine he'll get changed for the afternoon.

1200: Right I'm off to the Stewards' Cup draw - just in case they put nibbles out.

1158: The great Falbrav is in contemplative mood. He says: "No dough for Falbrav yesterday and I didn't even Enjoy The Moment. In audio commentary, I heard the beast mentioned once in running (after 3F) and waited in vain for the commentator to call that he was flying home with a rare late rattle. Itreminded me of sitting on a vinyl cushioned sill of a boarded up window in a smoke filled betting shop listening to a crackly extel commentary delivered by somebody in a phone box wearing a balaclava.

"It was there that a youthful Falbrav spent many a wet Saturday afternoon yearning for financial salvation. I am left to draw some comfort from the fact that somethings never change. The ambience of an airy, smoke-free office with views over lake and mountain is far removed from a dark corner of a shop in Kent, but the end results are remarkably similar.

"I remember the Audi Stakes before it had vorsprungdurchtechnik and was simply called the King George. In a predominantly downhill race over 5F, I used to simply back the fastest horse in the race. This technique yielded a winner with Averti and a second place with Eveningperformance in the 1990s so I'm up for another go, but I can't see a real speed merchant here. Where are the horses that would blitz the opposition in a 4F race and might just hang on over a fast 5?

"Can't see Triple Aspect being placed and, although I think Borderlescott is bombproof for a place, I'm not sure he has the raw speed for this contest. I've decided to row in with Amour Propre at 20s on the basis that he looks like a speedster even if he hasn't been in great form this season.

"I must go and chew some celery."

Oh for the days of the extel commentary. I can remember backing Plan B who won the Britannia and he was never even mentioned throughout the race. A very pleasant surprise when the result was posted in my local Geo Akins. Another chain consigned to the great high street in the sky.

1156: Interesting follow-up from Matt O'Driscoll who adds: "No boiled egg in the fish pie but still excellent. I recommended it next time to venture to Sandown."

Salmon or smoked haddock the fish Matt? Sorry for the constant questions but the lack of egg is a blow. I won't lie.

1153: Eric O'Brien has tracked the blog down and says: "Morning Dave, Glad I found you. Am wondering how Stacey Blacksmith sees the Dandino connection today?? Verdant was the one yesterday and I am surprised Pricewise funks these Goodwood Hcaps.

"London Stripe has been shortening all morning and I think his is the strongest form. He was in front at the 2 furlong pole at Ascot only to be run down by Dandino.

"None of the tipsters seem to like the American filly--- Starfish Bay---- she may lead all the way in Gp 2 Sprint at a decent price."

Our Dave John does Eric. Apparently she's quick - well you'd expect that to be fair. I'm awaiting a verdict from our man in the States Bob Bradley.

1145: We're out in Dubai now with Andy T who writes: "G'day from The Land o' the Sand!!

"Been quiet of late due to having to get my "Ducks in a row" so to speak before I venture homeward bound tonight from Dubai. It's a good job really because looking at the Goodwood results the last couple of days it may well have been a Graveyard for me!!!

"Anyway, I can see wood on my desk now & thoughts are turning to the airport tonight not before I give you my selection for Goodwood today, here goes: 14.10 Invincible Soul, 14.45 Elnawin, 15.25 Tactic / Kit Wood hmmmm??, 16.00 Flying Cloud, 16.35 Dubawi Gulf, 17.10 Cansili Star, 17.45 Lost in Paris

"A right mixed bag there but I'm just too giddy to get back, close my suitcase & head for Dubai International & the Irish Pub in T1!!!! This time tomorrow I'll be reunited with the Trouble & Strife, The Bin Lids & The Hound!!!!..... & hopefully a few sheckles richer when my selections will have landed !!! Here's hoping!!

"Enjoy your day Ordy..... See you at Beverley on the 11th ????"

You will Mr T - and travel well. Never knew there was an Irish pub in T1. Mind you the only time I've been to Dubai International Airport involved a sprint to catch a connecting flight to Brisbane. Talk about sweating, thought I'd never stop.

1135: Well done to Will Scully who spotted my earlier, deliberate mistake, at 1040. He says: "You have given the prize to the wrong horse....Hawkeyethenoo won the Skybet dash, not Hogmaneigh. Pedantic boring sod, thats me."

No you are not WS. You merely demand accuracy and I will try to deliver it. I blame the fruit rush for that error. No more vitamin c to pass these lips today.

1130: Matt O'Driscoll was at another of my favourite tracks yesterday, saying: "No chance for me to get to Goodwood this week so headed over to my local course Sandown last night, excellent fish pie in the members! Shocked to see the whole field let Frankie get to the front in the maiden race, is there a better front running jockey in the world?

"Anyway back to the job in hand and I will be looking at these four today 2:10 - Beachfire, 2:45 - Borderlescott, 3:25 - Age Of Aquarius, 4:00 - Flying Cloud

"Flying cloud looks my stand out bet of the day. I'll also be having some of Force of Habit over at Galway, the Weld / Smullen combination looks unbeatable at the moment."

Do they include boiled egg in the fish pie at Sandown Matt - they should. If it's authentic.

1126: Gill Nevin says: "Spent the morning pondering where Mark Johnston's winner is going to come from, I'm a massive fan and if I had a flat horse I'm sure he would be delighted to know he would be the first trainer on the list. It was one of the many highlights of my Ceefax days when I went up to the yard to talk about his horses, although I do recall swiftly backtracking when suggesting Yavana's Pace might be getting on a bit, it didn't go down too well. I'm blaming D John for that, I'm sure he put me up to it. O happy days!

"I think it's really tricky today but I'm sticking with Borderlescott and think Kite Wood will give a good account too, only had one winner so far and having a torrid time at work too so need my luck to change."

Well all do Gill - and it will. Ground my concern with Kite Wood although the skies are now overcast. We may have rain.

1123: Matt Taylor writes: "Frustrating day yesterday, missed out on the placepot by ducking Verdant for Berling having had 2 selections up in every other leg. Ploughing on though with another perm today, risking a single selection for the Cup as I can't see Age of Aquarius finishing out of the 3 although also wouldn't be punting the win at 6/4. Think Spin Cycle looks a decent ew bet at 20s with a nice draw and should make the frame even if he can't get past the wonderful Borderlescott. Myplacelater also interesting in the Lillie Langtry and gives an excuse for an appalling chat-up line if she wins".

The Ord drought would no doubt continue with that one Matt!

1120: Just been handed an alcohol free cocktail which contains apple, elderberry, lime and something else. Surely I'm already up to four of my five-a-day without eating anything solid.

1115: The clouds are beginning to look a little threatening. Anyway on with the show. Matt In Gloucestershire says: "Good Morning Dave, Well done on the double yesterday, thankfully I managed to join you in backing Dance East yesterday, however rather foolishly I didn't take your advice with a saver on Verdant, put that down to youthful carelessness.

"Still drastic measures have been put in place to try and find a delightful few winners, and also to obtain the life changing placepot.

"I've decided to place a nookie ban with the missus for the rest of Glorious Goodwood, feel that I need to get every available advantage, on the punting front. Anyway, after much deliberation London Stripe in the first for young Ryan, Astronomical Jet in the sprint, Purple Moon for king Kieran, and most definitely so after I keep singing Purple Rain by Prince all this morning. Gone for a little dabble in 4.10 on Flame of Gibraltar for the maestro that is Mr Henry Cecil, burgled a little of Coral's 33-1 this morning. Were all hoping for a profitable day Dave, if its not then the missus will not be happy."

I'm hoping that HRAC has a very good day here Matt. And well done for the nookie ban. I know Mrs Matt will be the one to suffer but it helps clear the mind. I've had a six-month nookie ban in place. Not actually by me but my the female population of Britain and Ireland.

1110: Mike Hales has been reaching for the office phone. He writes: "It may be that I am reading it wrong but the form guide, under the racecard in your paper, seems to be saying Age of Aqaurius "fended off the likes of Tactic, Kite Wood...etc"

"This could be very misleading for punters because Tactic was not in the race."

I'll get it changed MH. Tactic wasn't there - he was busy beating Profound Beauty at the Curragh.

1105: Scott Mackey writes from the Rhonda Valleys: "Looking forward to today's racing see plenty of opportunities to get some real profit today with some horses way too far out in my eyes. None more so then Elnawin, top jockey and trainer combo and fast starter. Get your moolah on that one Dave!!!!"

The draw a worry there SM. High could be crucial if the going stick is to be believed.

1102: Sean Bush is out to defy his own stats. He says: "Morning Dave, I've come to the conclusion that Goodwood isn't a good course me. Anyway, onwards!

"3.25 Free Agent. Has a lot to find on the ratings but is unexposed and from a stable in flying form.

"4.35 Star Concert. This is a bit from left field but I like unraced horses in maidens and she looks to have a nice 2 year old pedigree. Although stable isn't renound for first time out winners. Eddie Ahern is a jockey I like and a big old price."

There you go SB. Star Concert could yet rescue the whole week.

1100: Liam In Widnes writes: "Glad you had a nice haddock and chips last night lol. Got to fancy two at Goodwood here today, Borderlescott is a perfect each way price in the sprint, always gives you a run for your money and he seems the only horse with decent Group 1 form so should find this contest less competitive than he is used to.

"I also fancy Feelin Foxy at 14s with PaddyPower in the sprint handicap at the end of the day, great run last year from the wrong side of the track and has good form this year behind the likes of Hamish McGonagall and Tropical Treat.

"Good luck to you with yours bets (unless they don't match mine lol)".

Well I'm with you regarding Borderlescott Liam. He should get a nice tow into the race and is proven at this track. I also intend to contact Bob Bradley, our man in America, for his thoughts on Starfish Bay. Sadly its the second race though - should have done it yesterday...

1055: Apologies to any takeaway owners who produce fish and chips as well as other products. Simon Yau quite rightly says: "The locals from Keighley will testify to the outstanding quality of the fish and chips my mom used to make at our Chinese takeaway. The batter was lovely and so was the chips, and my good man, you are more than welcome to come and try her home made stuff and give your honest opinion.

"After all the trips I made on the Friday evening run I think I've got a good palate for the meal."

You're on Yauser, I'm prepared to be proved wrong. I bet they were good to be fair. Only ever been to Keighley to watch rugby - never dined there - bar a beef burger at Cougar Park. That was very heavily seasoned from what I remember.

1050: News from Abu Dhabi where Bahir Al Azawi writes: "It was a very profitable day yesterday i had a Lucky 15 King Taurs & Cnaford cliffs with a 2 winners for d weld in the curragh the profit was very handsome..

"As for today Age of Aquirias does have the best chance in glorious goodwood at 3.25 my othe rselections is Nottingham 3.10 Albaccoco for sir prescot,, Nott 4.20 Give your verdicit for sir Stoute , and last Epsom 7.05 Pompeyano for the godolphin... A nice luck 15 ..Regards"

Best of luck to you Bahir. I suppose Give Your Verdict is worth one final chance but he has proved expensive to follow.

1045: David Berry writes: "How do think Glorious Goodwood has gone so far? I think we've seen very impressive displays, all be it solely from the Hannon yard.

"I've been holding back on my bets since Royal Ascot, but im coming out of my hibernation today to plough into Flying Cloud. Surely this horse is the class act in the race. 3rd in a group 2, beaten a length into 2nd in a group 1, and now dropping back into a group 3 where she is 8lb clear of the next best Polly's Mark. I know Godolphin can be hit and miss, but im willing to take it that they'll have her ready.

"Dave, what do you think of the mention you had yesterday for Dubawi Gulf?"

It was interesting DB - but I now the Finella Fudge team think they can reverse Doncaster form with her. Only a nose to separate them that day.

The form of the Godolphin team does worry me - hence I just prefer Polly's Mark in that race. Also not entirely convinced Flying Cloud wants to go up to a mile and six. To be fair if she's on-song and stays she'd win but they are two ifs for me.

1042: As ever my former agent Bob Davies is thinking outside the box. He writes: "Sounds like you saw a hired queue in Littlehampton, Dave, paid extras enlisted to loiter drooling around their employers' establishment. See how they lured you in?

"You might cash in on the same ruse yourself - blessed as you are with the physique of an Olympian diner, others will naturally follow your lead as a man who looks like he knows where to eat. That kind of publicity must be worth its weight in mackerel pate to restaurant and takeaway proprietors."

Now you've got me thinking sir. Was I duped? It was an average piece of fish. I'm thinking - in association with a travel-weary friend - of producing a guide as to where to eat and sleep around the British racecourses. How can that not fly off the shelves?

1040: I presented the prize for last week's Sky Bet Dash - won by Hogmaneigh - but it seems the horse has missed the cut for the Stewards' Cup by one. I've been invited to the draw in the Bentinck Conservatory. Champagne at 1130 - draw at noon - asleep by one.

1032: Adi Madan in Mumbai writes: "What a performance from Canford Cliffs, just superb. Hope he stays in training next year.

"Quick treble for today, London Stripe, Borderlescott, Age of Aquarius. Good luck with the weather, here the sun is out after a week, a slight hold up in the Mumbai monsoon."

We seem set fair on the weather front AM. Although the car park attendant this morning did sense there were showers in the air.

1025: We have a going change and are now good, good to firm in places on the straight course and good to firm on the round course.

Seamus Buckley says: "We have changed the going description after a dry night. The course is standing up well to the racing we have had.

"We watered two furlongs of the round course after racing last night, we put eight millimetres from the ten-furlong start to the intersection of the bends. We have removed the temporary running rail from the final three furlongs of the straight which means there is a lovely fresh strip of ground on the far side."

Going stick readings: 8.2 stands' side, 8.2 centre, 8.5 far side.

I'm not including the stalls details as yet - if you want them let me know. In fact don't. I'm telling you. stands' side on the straight course and inside on the round course. Full house.

1024: Kieren Taylor writes: "Hi Dave,Kieren here from not so sunny Reading! Astrophysical Jet for me in the big sprint, maybe a bit each way on Big Audio in the opener to,hope the fish and chips were great! Also think the eights is long gone on Astrophysical too!"

I'm a Borderlescott fan in that one KT but the Jet could easily fly home. Fish and chips were functional - no more, no less. The sea bass on crushed new potatoes now a distant memory.

1020: The General is reporting for duty and says: "Morning Dave, busy boy at work today but may be around for the afternoon fayre.

"Couple of each way pokes for me today on MARKAZZI and CITRUS STAR, have a pleasant day.

Off to the grove in Holbeck for a lunchtime pint, Daleside Blonde is 1-2 fav at moment."

Daleside Blonde, sounds like a golden session bitter. My favourites. I thought Markazzi was interesting. Was held in quite high regard last year and the fact he started out in the Craven this year suggests there were encouraging signs in the spring. Not seen since but one of the more interesting outsiders in a wide-open heat.

1018: Stuart Redmile is our first emailer and writes: "Hope you slept well dreaming of placepot glory as I do every evening. Couple for you today. Right Step at a MASSIVE price at 50s in the opener with a 7lb claimer on board. Something has gone amiss the last three times but this has ran Wigmore Hall within 1.75l which is now rated 101! Drop back in trip may help. Also, Rigidity with a Dantino formline that paid off with Verdant yesterday and I 'm more than pleased to oppose Johnstons handicap "good thing" with the week he's having."

I like Rigidity too in the opener SR - but how competitive is that!

1015: Stewards' Cup draw coming up and early indiciations from the going stick readings suggest you don't want to be low. More to follow...

1010: Today's main dilemma concerns the Goodwood Cup and Age Of Aquarius. His Chester run behind Harbinger has been franked (although don't take it literally) and his Gold Cup second to Rites Of Passage seemed to be a career best. However he has now finished second in his last four starts and is clearly far from bombproof. 6/4 is not for me and I'd expect Purple Moon to finish a good deal closer to him here with the drop in trip very much in his favour.

1005: I've been worried about a few of our regulars who have been missing in action of late. Rich Williams for example, Frank O'Brien, our man in the far east. However I'm pleased to report that Placepot guru - and my doppelganger - Mal Boyle is with us today. He can be cruel at timesl but there's no better potter out there.

1000: Oooh how the worm has turned. When I sported my white shirt-red tie combo (as recommended by Kate Miller yesterday) at the York Dante meeting Ladbrokes' Dave Williams urged me to ditch the look. "The New Labour era is over" was his blast. Now I see the great man in exactly the same combo claiming it's the "Ord look". He needs to add about seven stone and grow a grey beard to complete it. Will Hayler was much closer to matching it yesterday but his purple striped shirt is not the sort of attire I ever go for. I once owned a purple shirt but was likened to a Ribena berry. I hope it was the shirt they were referring to and not my blood pressure issues.

0955: Top jockey update and Richard Hughes is now 8/15 with Sky Bet. Ryan Moore is 6/4 and it's 28/1 bar the two. I expect Kieren Fallon (33/1) to have a decent day today.

0945: Good morning and welcome to day three of Glorious Goodwood 2010. First things first I did go to Littlehampton last night and I'm afraid to say I was a tad disappointed. All the good stuff seemed to be around the next corner, but I kept going round them and couldn't find it.

In the end I found a run of three fish and chip shops next to the harbour. Two had no queues but they were 20 deep at the other. That's where I went (one of the other options was a chinese takeaway that also do fish and chips - I never go to those).

It took me around 20 minutes to get served and there were still 16 people waiting for their orders when I got to the counter. I asked for haddock and chips and was served immediately. What were the others waiting for? What had I missed out on? I couldn't sleep with that thought running around my head.

I'd also seen the Midsummer Murders (it was the son's wife - Nettles nailed it) and when I found myself watching 'An Audience With Freddie Star' at 2145 BST I knew an early night was in order.

As a consequence, fuelled by a third successive full cooked breakfast (fresh orange and scrambled eggs again included), I'm fit and raring to go. Emails as always are craved at daveord55@gmail.com.
