Many thought Candy Creek looked a tasty proposition in the EBF "National Hunt" Novices' Hurdle and they were proved correct as the mare obliged as the 2-5 favourite at Kempton.
The Irish and Aintree bumper winner was snapped up for £200,000 at the sales earlier in the year and was long odds-on to make her hurdles debut a winning one.
Despite a mistake at the third flight, her jumping was pretty proficient and Tony McCoy guided her to a near five-length success.
Trainer Nicky Henderson said: "She is very laid back at home so I didn't expect her to be so fresh.
"She wasn't concentrating over the first four hurdles but her jumping was much better in the second half.
"She'll probably have one more run over two miles and we'll then go further in some of the mares' races."
You're The Top completed a short-priced double for Henderson and McCoy when kicking off his career over fences as the 4-6 favourite in the Chateau De Sours Novices' Chase.
The Michael Buckley-owned four-year-old was a smart hurdler and has transferred that ability across codes judged on his smart four-and-a-half-length strike.
Henderson said: "Tony said that ground is as soft as he would want it and he really wants it faster.
"We will mind him as he has a patient owner, but I might chance him on it again.
"He did jump well and we will potter away."
