Millenium Mag looked very interesting on his debut for Gary Moore in the handicap chase at Lingfield. Formerly trained by Frank Jordan, the son of Cyborg was travelling sweetly when almost brought to a standstill by an opponent at an obstacle on the far side. He is seriously well handicapped off 66.
Sonowyouno is highly progressive judged on his cosy success in the novices' hurdle. The Oscar gelding won at Aintree on his hurdling debut last month on his first start for Jonjo O'Neill. The money was well placed today and there should be more pay days as he appeared to win with something in hand on the evidence of Tony McCoy's body language.
Sunday 8th November
Dew Drop Inn landed some lovely bets on the Tipping Line when backed from 6-1 into 9-2. Jim Best is a master of improving horses from other trainers and the Saddlers' Hall mare bolted up by 22 lengths on her first start for the Lewes handler in the staying handicap hurdle at Hereford. Connections will have to run again under a penalty before the assessor crucifies the six-year-old and Best confirmed to me afterwards: " She can definitely win again."
Saturday 7th November
Charm School has been a grand servant to the Premier List, including when landing a punt (8-1 into 6-1) two outings ago. John Gosden's talented four-year-old was produced with a perfectly timed challenge to win today's November Handicap at 17-2 under Jimmy Fortune to initiate an 85-1 Notebook double.
I thought the Dubai Destination gelding was high enough off 98 but favourably soft ground made all the difference.
My favourite Notebook horse Collateral Damage completed the superb double in the last race on the card. Tim Easterby's ultra-consistent six-year-old confirmed himself a star performer when providing the final leg of three Tipping Line winners last Saturday. I didn't think we'd gain many more successes off his new career-high mark of 92, but like Charm School, earlier on the card, suitably soft ground made him a major player in the seven-furlong handicap. Six wins in a season deserves special recognition. Job done.

Its Teescomponents was a major eye-catcher when a fast-finishing third in the extended two-and-a-half mile conditional jockeys' handicap chase at Hexham. Keith Reveley's seven-year-old has always been highly regarded and looked well treated off 86 following a first chasing success at Cartmel last time. This quality mare lacked early pace but made up a tremendous amount of ground off the home turn and might have won with another furlong to run. The young jockey received a ten-day ban for an injudicious ride.
Wednesday 4th November
Manyriverstocross made a pleasing jumping debut in the two-mile maiden hurdle at Chepstow. The dual Flat winner is built for this job and stamina won't be an issue as he stayed one-mile-and-three-quarters on the level. Alan King is a master with this type of young hurdler and this won't be the Cape Cross gelding's last success. Rated 98 on the level and close up in the Ebor, he is a class act.
