Conduit (10-11 favourite) etched his name in Breeders' Cup history when winning consecutive renewals of the Turf at Santa Anita on Saturday night.

Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old had to work a good deal harder then when winning 12 months ago and Ryan Moore excelled on the chestnut.

8-1 chance Presious Passion set his usual frantic early pace but came right back to the field turning into the straight.

However, Elvis Trujillo had given the American challenger a canny ride and he kicked on again.

Conduit kept up his relentless charge though and finally broke the heart of Mary Hartmann's six-year-old.

Dar Re Mi claimed third with Spanish Moon, stablemate of the winner, fourth.

The brilliant Goldikova emulated Miesque by winning back-to-back renewals of the Mile with a sensational performance.

Freddie Head, who had the pleasure of riding Miesque, completed a remarkable feat that will take some matching.

Drawn 11 of 11, Olivier Peslier bided his time at the back of the field and had to weave through runners in the straight.

Courageous Cat was clear but when Goldikova (13-8f) started her run the outcome looked inevitable.

The four-year-old was going away at the line and arguably put up a more impressive performance than last year.

Courageous Cat filled second spot at 33-1 with Justenuffhumour (14-1) third.

Godolphin's Delegator was unplaced while Stoute's Zacinto was virtually pulled up by Moore.

Vale Of York sprang a major shock for Godolphin by winning the Juvenile.

The Invincible Spirit colt was a 25-1 outsider for the race following placed efforts in the Royal Lodge Stakes at Ascot and the Gran Criterium at San Siro, but jockey Ahmed Ajtebi always appeared confident.

Settled just behind the early leaders, Vale Of York picked up strongly in the final furlong to gain a narrow verdict from the 3-1 favourite Lookin At Lucky.

The latter has to be considered a slightly unlucky loser having broke widest of all from stall 13. Noble's Promise took third at 8-1.

The Aidan O'Brien pair Alfred Nobel and Beethoven, along with Brian Meehan's Radiohead, were all unplaced.

Frankie Dettori gave Europe the perfect start to day two by winning the opening Juvenile Turf on John Gosden's Pounced.

The Italian sent his mount - the 3-1 favourite - through a gap on the inside to take it up a furlong from home.

And from there on in the son of Rahy was never going to be passed as Gosden took the race for the second consecutive year after Donativum scored in 2008.

Bridgetown at 15-2 took second spot after making a gallant surge for home from the top of the stretch, while Interactif (4-1) was third.

Jeremy Noseda's Awesome Act finished really well down the centre of the track from way back to take fourth under Ryan Moore.

O'Brien's Viscount Nelson fell out of the stalls under Johnny Murtagh and was never really in a position to threaten the leaders.

Furthest Land showed a tenacious attitude to come out on top in the Dirt Mile.

Julien Leparoux sat just behind the pacesetters in the early stages of the contest and unleashed his challenge at the top of the home straight.

Michael Maker's four-year-old soon quickened to the lead and kept up the gallop in the final furlong to beat Ready's Echo.

Godolphin's Midshipman was third, while O'Brien's hot favourite Mastercraftsman finished fourth after a troubled passage in the home straight.

Dancing In Silks at 25-1 came on top in a thrilling four-way photo finish to claim the Sprint for jockey Joel Rosario.

The pair just pipped Crown Of Thorns (14-1) and Cost Of Freedom (20-1) to take the race, with the heavily-fancied Godolphin runner Gayego fourth under Garrett Gomez.

The favourite Zensational was a major disappointment while European raider Fleeting Spirit, trained by Noseda, was never in with a chance.

California Flag made every yard of the running under Joe Talamo to run out a hugely impressive winner of the Turf Sprint.

Brian Koriner's grey, sent off the 9-2 favourite, shot out of the stalls and always appeared to be travelling strongly at the head of affairs.

The race was over as a contest when California Flag crossed the all-weather strip and he only had to be kept up to his work to beat Gotta Have Her (10-1), who finished fast to claim the runner-up spot. Cannonball at 7-1 picked up minor honours in third.

Noseda's Strike The Deal finished last under Kieren Fallon while former Karl Burke inmate Lord Shanakill was also out of the places.
