Supreme Novices' Hurdle third Somersby is set to make his fencing debut on Wednesday in the Commscope And Anixster Business Partners Novices' Chase at Warwick.
Henrietta Knight's five-year-old defied his inexperience to finish third behind Go Native at the Cheltenham Festival. He also filled the same spot at Aintree's Grand National meeting.
The imposing gelding tackles Grade One-winning hurdler Straw Bear in the five-runner race.
"He's got to start somewhere," said Knight on Tuesday.
"I had thought of taking him to Exeter today but I thought there might be less runners tomorrow which there are.
"He's got to make a start and we've got to see how good he is.
"He has got a lot of ability. He's still quite a big baby really.
"Obviously Straw Bear runs tomorrow but it's good to get him out.
"He's got to get started, but everybody is so late this year because of the weather - we've all been late starting."
