David Simcock believes Darley Sun could "go right to the top" as a stayer after the three-year-old destroyed the opposition in the totesport.com Cesarewitch.
The Newmarket trainer hoped the horse's class would tell over his inexperience in the rough and tumble of a highly-competitive handicap.
That proved the case as the handicap snip justified favouritism to come home home five lengths clear of the 32-strong field.
"It's a very difficult race to win on a wonderful day of racing," Simcock told At The Races.
"Three-year-olds have not got a great record in the race, but that's slightly misleading as not many get into the race.
"It was a relief more than anything, as all you think about is what could go wrong. He'll be put away now.
"Darley Sun is going to progress with racing. He does stay and he's got quicker - he's got that little bit of class as well.
"The Sagaro (at Ascot) is probably the obvious target. The nice thing is that he goes into a four-year-old campaign totally unpenalised.
"He could go right to the top."
