Frankie Dettori will ride Raven's Pass in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita.
According to The Racing Post, the Italian will replace Jimmy Fortune on the QEII winner on October 25.
Fortune only returns from a 10-day suspension on the day of the big race, and says he couldn't be at 100 percent after that sort of lay-off.
Trainer John Gosden said: "I discussed it with Jimmy and at this moment he is serving a ban for a minor infringement at Nottingham. He's pointed out very clearly that it is not possible for jockeys to be razor-sharp and race-fit for that kind of racing have served a 10-day suspension.
"We talked it through and Frankie will ride Raven's Pass and Donavitum (Juvenile Turf).
"I worked both horses at Lingfield this morning to see how they handed tightish left-handed bends as neither horse had raced left-handed or worked left-handed, and I was very pleased."
