Quevega is the new 5/1 favourite for the World Hurdle following the news that Big Buck's will miss the rest of the season.

Quevega: Now favourite for the World Hurdle

The four-time David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle winner heads the market from Oscar Whisky at 7/1 and Rite Of Passage at 8/1.

Peddler Cross, Voler La Vedette, Grands Crus, Smad Place and Zaidpour are all available at 12/1 for the Cheltenham contest.

"The news regarding Big Buck's is a bitter blow for ante-post punters," said Betfred spokesman Andrew Griffiths.

"With the reigning champion out of the equation, Quevega's connections may be tempted to throw their hat in the ring and we make her our new 5/1 favourite."

Nicky Henderson is now as short as 2/5 for the National Hunt trainers' title after Paul Nicholls was dealt a double blow.

Nicholls - the reigning champion trainer - revealed in his Betfair column that both Al Ferof and Big Buck's are unlikely to run again this season.

He told Betfair: "At evening stables (on Monday night), we discovered a problem with both Big Buck's and Al Ferof.

"I am not in a position to go into great detail at this point, but I can confirm that Big Buck's will not be taking up his engagement at Ascot on Saturday and Al Ferof will not be running in the King George.

"And both are unlikely to run again this season."

Ladbrokes pushed Nicholls out to 9/4 for the trainers' title with two of his biggest potential money-spinners unlikely to contribute further to his earnings.

In doing so they cut Henderson to 1/3 and he's likely to be the main beneficiary if the betting is to be proved accurate.
