Byron pencilled in for York
Gordon Lord Byron is bang on course to reappear in the Sky Bet City of York Stakes on the Knavesmire on Friday week.
Trainer Tom Hogan is using the Listed contest over seven furlongs, which his stable star claimed in 2012, as a stepping-stone in an attempt to win next month's Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock for the second year running.
The County Tipperary handler was greatly encouraged by Gordon Lord Byron's racecourse gallop after racing at the Curragh on Sunday.
"He is in wonderful form and his work was very exciting," said Hogan.
"The City of York Stakes at York on Friday week is his initial target and then the Haydock Sprint.
The globetrotting six-year-old, who raced in Hong Kong and Australia earlier this year, was last seen finishing eighth behind Slade Power in the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot.
