GREEN LIGHT - 5.15 Ffos Las

The presence of Eye Of The Tiger in the At The Races Handicap at Ffos Las this afternoon shines a brighter spotlight than would usually be the case on the contest.

The former Barney Curley-trained horse began the betting coup that rocked bookmakers last winter and today he has his first start since. It's his first start for Johnny Murtagh, too, and he's 20lb higher than when he cruised to a facile victory at Lingfield.

Despite that hike in the ratings he's a respected 7/2 chance by the layers, but there has to be an element of wariness from the bookmakers here and the percentage call is to take him on.

It's a good little contest and the lack of support for Bathwick Street is telling, while Classical Act and Curbyourenthusiasm are both in with a shout based on recent efforts.

But the one I want to be with is Ralph Beckett's Green Light at prices around the 15/2 mark.

The three-year-old has only had four races in his life, three of them this year, and his best effort came at Salisbury last time when he ran on nicely into fourth over 10 furlongs.

Since then he's been gelded and that operation, along with the step up in trip to a mile and a half, could well help him defy an opening handicap mark of 75.

The rain has fallen at Ffos Las but he has form on soft ground too after finishing second on such a surface at Sandown to the now 107-rated group horse Mutakaayef.

His trainer Ralph Beckett has a fine record at Ffos Las with horses three years and older as well, with five wins from 14 representatives at a strike-rate of 36 per cent in the last five years.

With 10 runners set to line up in the contest, Green Light looks a cracking little each-way bet. Click here to place your bets.
