Glorious plan for Protector
Glorious Protector will either run in the Betfred Ebor at York next month or head to America for their St Leger after his fine win at Newmarket.
Ed Walker's four-year-old bolted up by seven lengths and incurred a 9lb rise from the handicapper.
That almost guarantees a run in the valuable handicap on the Knavesmire, but Walker is considering a trip abroad.
"He should get in now," said Walker.
"It will either be the Ebor or the American St Leger for him and he'll be kept in both. We'll keep an eye on the ground and who is running where.
"He's in great shape and it was good to see him win like that.
"Going to America is tempting given he bled at Ascot (before his win) as he could run on Lasix which almost eliminates that possibility. Clearly he didn't bleed at Newmarket, though.
"He'd be fine on safe summer ground, but he wouldn't want it like a road. Last season was a bit of a nightmare - hopefully we're on the right track now.
"Long-term he's the type to go to Australia for the Lexus Stakes that we won with Ruscello last year. He's got plenty of pace."
