Power, who took the National aboard Silver Birch in 2007 and is set to ride Joncol in this year's race, was unable to partner runner-up Cailin Annamh in the closing bumper, the mount instead going to Tony McCoy.
A report from the stewards said that they had "interviewed the rider, the Clerk of the Scales and the Sampling Officer. Having heard their evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (D)65 and referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority. Under Rule (D)66 the Stewards suspended Powell from riding for the rest of the day."
Although Power is likely to face punishment from the British Horseracing Authority in the future, he should be free to ride on Saturday.
