Mark Johnston: Wolverhampton runner all the rage

15:15 Warwick Queen Of Mantua 7/2 from 11/2
Queen Of Mantua's hurdling mark would already give her a great chance in this Novice Chase, but this daughter of Old Vic has always been seen as a chasing type, and she could prove too good for her rivals in a race not as competitive as it looks. Sixth on chase debut in a better race, the seven-year-old should have learnt plenty, and with the step up in trip in her favour, and Paddy Brennan taking over in the saddle, we are all set for a big run.

16:00 Sandown Master Benjamin 6/1 from 7/1
If you can forgive his last run when hampered at Doncaster, Jeremy Scott's lightly raced Master Benjamin holds leading form claims in this competitive handicap at Sandown. His second to Xaarcet, who has gone on to frank the form twice, looks rock solid for this grade, and with improvement to come, this strong-travelling sort can prove well ahead of the handicapper .

19:00 Wolverhampton Conversing 15/8 from 9/2
One of the day's talking horses is the Mark Johnston-trained Conversing, with early morning odds being slashed from 9/2 into 15/8. Formerly trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni, the three-year-old failed to show much last year in two maiden runs, but this son of Raven's Pass has obviously wintered well, and he should go close in a race lacking any great strength in depth.
