Mathias, who is assistant trainer to David Rees, was charged with betting in a race in which he was riding on four occasions in 2011 and 2012.
While Mathias backed his own mount on three of the four occasions, it is still contrary to the rules of racing.
Mathias admitted his guilt at the inquiry and the panel disqualified him from February 22, 2013 to February 21, 2014.
