Not the best form figures on show, having finished a distant last on his previous two starts, but that hasn't put off his backers making Mary's Pet a strong favourite. The slight drop in grade should help as should the aid of 'go-to jockey' Adam Kirby, and it will be interesting to see if they return to the front running tactics adopted in all five career wins now the money is down.
One of only a few unexposed sorts in this race, Romany Ryme has seen support to make a winning handicap debut. The seven-year-old ran a promising race at Ayr last month when behind two progressive rivals, and the former point winner should appreciate the step up in trip.
The one-time useful Miami Gator has seen significant support in an open looking handicap at Dunstall Park. Beaten last time out in a claimer, the six-year-old has been dropped a further 9lb in the handicap, and with Ryan Tate taking off another valuable 7lb, the game front-running Gator should run a big race.
