Great Ormond streets ahead

If Cheltenham and Leopardstown laid on a feast of racing over the weekend, today sees the start of a famine with slim pickings on offer on the all-weather tracks at Kempton and Wolverhampton.

Simcock: In red-hot form

There's no National Hunt racing set to take place at least until Wednesday, and even that date might be ambitious as the snow melts around the country.

Still, the action on the sand keeps the show on the road and there looks to be a belting bet in the BetVictor Non Runner Free Bet At Cheltenham Handicap (3.50) at Kempton this afternoon.

GREAT ORMOND improved bundles for a significant step up in trip over a mile and a half at Wolverhampton last time and over just a furlong shorter today he can go in again.

Here is the video of him hosing up on his latest start and you can see him travelling all over his rivals from a long way out - a 9lb rise does not look harsh.

He did lose to today's rival Hidden Link two starts ago, but if you watch that race here it's easy to envisage him reversing that form over a quarter of a mile further, even though Ron Harris' horse is 6lb better off.

The icing on the cake is the form of Simcock. He's sent out seven winners from his last 10 runners and two of the other three were placed.

Other than the leading two the rest of the field in Kempton's 3.50 look much of a muchness and if you can get anything around 2/1 about Great Ormond it looks worth taking.
