Trained by Gary Moore and ridden by George Baker, the mare has been struggling in better races of late but her record in class six handicaps on the Polytrack reads 113554631211.
That improves to four wins in seven such races at Lingfield, and in today's grade her sole course and distance start produced a near-three length victory off today's mark of 58. Put simply, that she drops from a class five into this class six is very significant.
As a mare who has made the running with success in the past, we've no concerns about the small field and it's surely worth noting that she's attracted money this morning for a yard who are banging in the winners, particularly at this track.
With cheekpieces dispensed with - all five career wins have come without headgear - and a record under Baker which reads two wins in four starts, Dorothy's Dancing stands out like a beacon in a poor race.
There has been some morning money for Spellmaker too but Tony Newcombe is yet to saddle a winner in 2013 and this horse, while unexposed, has to prove his effectiveness on the surface after a break of six months.
The biggest threat may be Chjimes, another specialist around here, but the nine-year-old's last win was 10 months ago and while he's slipped to a winning mark I'd be worried that this free-going sort might spoil his chance early in this small field.
Back For Tea remains a maiden, Imaginary Diva is better over the minimum trip and Waterloo Dock is woefully out of sorts, so at odds-against Dorothy's Dancing looks very solid.
