Midnight Chase heads the 37 horses to have stood their ground for the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on Saturday.

Last year's winner Calgary Bay returns for the feature

The smart chaser has been disappointing this season, most recently when pulled up behind Tidal Bay in the Lexus Chase on his most recent start.

However with the horse's mark having dropped to 155, the ceiling rating for this contest, trainer Neil Mulholland has been able to enter him for this £75,000 contest.

Joining Midnignt Chase at the top of the weights is Gold Cup outsider Bold Sir Brian, entered along with Silver By Nature by trainer Lucinda Russell. Both horses were intended starters in Haydock's Peter Marsh Chase on Saturday only for the meeting to be abandoned.

Ballabriggs, the 2011 Grand National winner, and Calgary Bay, successful in the Sky Bet Chase 12 months ago, are also among a high-class potential line-up for a contest which has gained a reputation as a leading National trial.

The two-day Sky Bet Chase Meeting on Friday and Saturday (January 25 & 26) features not only the most valuable jumps race of the season at the track, but also four Grade Two contests on the Saturday.

The eight-race programme also now includes the stanJames.com Champion Hurdle Trial, the Grade 2 contest having been transferred from last Saturday's abandoned meeting at Haydock Park.

With only seven entries received for the Grade Two race, the likes of Countrywide Flame, Raya Star, Peddlers Cross and Grandouet having been in the frame for the original event, the contest has been reopened until 11am on Tuesday for further entries to be made.

Racecourse spokeswoman Kate Hills said: "We are very grateful to both Sky Bet and Stan James for supporting us in adding the Haydock race to the Doncaster programme, which has given us a real feast of jumps racing.

"We will be doing everything in our powers to beat the weather and the get the go-ahead."

An inspection has been called for 10am on Wednesday to look at prospects for Friday's card.
